I spent a lot of my season this year going out and filming local and visiting skiers at Breck and Keystone. I ended up filming most of the season with Walter Wood, Ethan Swadburg, Levi Ascher, and Kai George, but I also got a day in with ABM (Alex Beaulieu-Marchand) and Christian Shackelford. This past month, I took some of the best footage from the season - some that was included in web edits, some unreleased - and compiled it into a short film: Altitude.

Wow. That was very well-done. Excellent film overall. The color grading was spot on and everything flowed very nicely. My only complaints, and these are pretty small, are that although I love Emancipator, hearing it back to back seemed kind of bland, as the two songs you picker\d were pretty similar in overall sound. The other thing is that the interviews in the beginning had some distracting wind noise in the background, and having them before every segment got pretty repetitive.

But take what I say with a grain of salt as I am quite inexperienced in the film community. Overall this was amazing and I am very impressed with your skills after just 2 years of filming. Very nice!

colors looked phenomenal
titles looked great
time lapses were awesome, maybe a little too many though
too much resort skiing, got real repetitive
lacked skiing audio
objects were cut a little bit due to the crop
soundtrack lacked variety

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Very glad were into the titling and color grading.

I'll keep those comments about the soundtrack in mind in future productions, thanks.

As for skiing audio, I should have just spent a day with my iPhone and recorded a bunch of foley to work with in post (All of the interviews and intro were recorded separately with my iPhone's microphone), but it never really came into fruition. Next year I will most certainly prioritize audio and probably get a RodeMic.

switched to HD falfway through made it 2x better. um well music was ok not great the songs didnt rly fit with the vibe. but otherwise nice job man!

Really can't explain how much I enjoyed this movie. I'm a skier from the Midwest and me and buddys ski at a HILL where you park at the top and ski down. We are looking into making a short film and I think this is our model. Nice job Gavin!!!!
