So a few years ago, I guess about 3 now, I was out skiing. I had just gotten a brand new pair of GS skis that were super long and I went up with my dad to get used to them. Toward about 2, we hit a run right under the lift with some trees that were spread out and pretty big. I high sided on a mogul and fell backwards, head first. I hit a tree that was already broken and split into 2 pieces. I hit the smaller piece with the back of my head and fell down and hit another tree with the front and ended up stopping in that tree well. A guy had seen it from the lift and continued up and skied down to ski patrol and told them I blew my brains out on a tree and I needed help. While I was out, it was one of the craziest experiences ever. It felt like a dream. Ive had a couple really short lucid dreams before, and thats what I was experiencing. It was really empty and quiet at first. It was like an eerie white/gray and felt like I was the only thing in the whole universe. Like everything disappeared. I felt really small though. Like I was an insignificant part of a whole. My "dream" then went to the ski hill. I sat about 10 feet away and watched myself laying there. It was only me, nobody else around me. My dad had already made it to the bottom and thought I was behind him, thats why I think I felt so alone. I dont remember flashing back on my life, I felt it though, I dont know if that makes sense. Like I knew there was something there, but couldnt see it. I sat watching myself for about 3 minutes, but it felt like forever. Like I was sitting, watching my limp body for a couple hours. Just me and myself. I heard a noise in the background that slowly got louder. It was like a moaning, like the sound you make when you get the wind knocked out of you. It got louder and louder until it felt like it was inside my head, and thats when I realized it actually was. When I figured out it was me that was making the noise, I came to. I woke up and my goggles and helmet were off and one ski patroller was over me and checking my pulse. He said that he had been checking my pulse for almost 8 seconds and didnt feel anything and then it just came back. He said I was super white and that I was probably clinically dead for a while. They loaded me up, took me down in an ambulance and I was in the hospital for a while. The doctor said that it was highly probably that I was legitimately dead after I hit the trees and that it was a miracle that I came back. He said I suffered from a concussion but no other major injury.
Thats probably the most lifechanging for me, just because I legitimately think that I died, at least for a bit.
Also, wear your fucking helmets. I would for sure be dead without mine.
