Hey guys, so I am trying to get an event/legalization of BASE jumping in Zion National Park. I would greatly appreciate even just a like on facebook. I know some of you have been stoked to watch videos involving BASE and it would be a huge help for me and the community to ally with NS and the power of numbers thanks :)
Does Zion even have any places with enough exposure to do that? I remember the canyons being pretty gradual overall. Would be so sick to wingsuit fly through the hoodoos though. I hope this gets passed so I can watch GoPro videos of people doing that shit.
Liked the page. Good luck. I hope to get into BASE in the next 5+ years or so. I just started my skydiving career last summer so I still have a lot to learn. I probably want to get to 250-300 skydives before I take a BASE jump course.
While this would be cool, it has somewhere between a 0.000 and a 0.001 percent chance of actually passing. The national parks are very, very against this type of thing. Yosemite, with El Capitan and Half Dome, is the best place in the US to BASE, bar none. It is extremely illegal, but people do so anyway. If caught, the consequences are very harsh. The NPS will not budge on its anti-base stance.
I don't understand how the parks can ban it and make it illegal - not even the parks but all over the US. If smoking cigarettes is legal, so should be BASE jumping so long as its not putting other people in danger or disrupting traffic or things like that.
