We're the hardest of skiers, battling against gale force winds and constant ice just to hit a tiny mountain with the smallest of parks.... :L

Bearsden dryslope is the best place to ski in Scotland. Is the biggest dryslope jump in Britain and theres always a good crew shredding there.

I was born in Scotland and am a British citizen but have lived in Canada since I was 7, does that count? I've skied Glen Shee before, I'll stick to Canadian mountains.

my mom and her family are from the isle of skye....im canadian though and live in whistler. getting my british passport soon though to go along with my canadian and american, so im stoked about that.

Hey! You take that back. I was born in london but ive spent more of my life in scotland and my dad is scottish. I will agree im not pure.
Real skiing: wherever is best on the day, mostly cairngorms, glenshee, glencoe.
I ski at the fridge in glasgow a bunch and ski the dryslope at bearsden a bunch and when its uni dryslope comp time i ski at hillend but it's shite.

Cairngorm is sick right now, the park setup is really nice and probably the best they've ever had. It's also still snowing there :D

It sure is, absolute whiteout today, too bad the weathers looking weak for the next week, windy and foggy as always, so might not get up for a bit.

Yes tom it did indeed.

OP there's a lot more scottish skiers on NS than you'd think.

Also a lot of Extreme skiers hiding if you look around, some ridiculously steep stuff, can't find any photos atm but trust me there is.

yea it is in some cases, at one point i lived in the maine for like 10 years or so and got my permanent residence, and also my dad was born in the states.

I know this is mainly a website for guy that ski park but if you are looking for steeping you cant get much better than scotland and there are some pretty talented guys out there skiing some pretty extreme lines!

Here's a couple photos of central gully, over the back of cairngorm as a taster haha

Further backing up my point that there's a lot of awesome guys that can do actual skiing.

I've wanted to get into skiing some steep stuff in scotland but the cost of all the touring gear(not essential but it sure as hell would make it easier) coupled with the fact that a huge amount of people have died this year due to avalanches is making me hesitant, need to get avy gear/tuition etc.

Yeah man there are some there are some pretty nuts guys out there, saw a photo of a guy skiing jacobs ladder at 2am in the pitch black!

You should! I am too, skied aladens coulior a few times but the entrance was pretty mellow both times. A lot of the steeps around cairngorm can be accessed with very little hiking or pushing out. Yeah i know what you mean avy gear is almost essential! Although spring time is when most of that sort of stuff is skied and usually the snow pack is pretty solid, you just have to go out the first few times with guys who know there stuff (not me yet). Im hopefully planning on skiing a lot this stuff next season, conditions permitting that is! It would be very cool to get a group of guy that would be up for hiking every weekend or so to ski some steeps!

worth a join if you're into it, mostly older guys but there's some pretty good people in it, guy who won the coe cup last year pretty much runs it. They do meet ups pretty often and ski together. Yeah guy who did jacobs at midnight was pretty impressive, scary enough in the middle of the day haha.

I know joey(jvandyke) does a lot around coire an sneachda too, or he has done, he skins up and I'm pretty sure he knows a bit about avalanches and stuff.

Yeah im in that group, not for very long though! ah peter, iv skied with him once before, it was right at then end of the day hiked up to and skied aladins, didn't get back to the car park until around 7 it was pretty cool! He's a nutter though, i don't think he has any fear/he puts his fail in god as he prays before he drops in every time!

Yeah it would be sweet to get a wee crew together of people closer to my age who are interested in this sort of stuff!

Yeah ended up giving him a lift back to inverness one time and he was telling us how he was looking for a new religion, and ended up with one with like 4 people in the entire religion haha, seems like a bit of unusual character but he's cool.

Season's pretty much over, all starting to melt/rain now annoyingly.

Yeah he is that but you cant argue with his ability! Yeah its a shame, although some snow should hold in the gullys for a couple of weeks i imagine. Hopefully next season will produce as much snow as this one but maybe with out all that wind haha

Yeah, but you're not exactly getting any real skiing there.

@Finlay you planning anything else this season? Even the lifts will still be running another few weeks I reckon. Also wind is a certainty haha, pretty sure I could have been up twice as much this season if it wasn't windy.

Im i was hoping to but iv got a load of course work to do and my exams start this week so i doubt i will be up again. Pretty gutted i haven't been up as much as i would have hoped this season! Although i do blame most of it on the wind!

Scottish, but have only skied in Scotland 3 times in the past 10 years, the last of which was 2008 I think. It takes some serious dedication to do it, but for me it's not worth it. Yeah when it's good it's good, but you never really know.

How can you even compare skiing inside, in the middle of a city too skiing in the mountains, with the type of terrain that is available, the scenery and just the general environment you are in? Im not saying there is anything wrong with skiing in a snowdome, its great, but its just not the same!
