they only lead to arguments and ns has no place for them. everybody on this site is an idiot and it shows mostly in the car threads.

Car threads are far from the worst threads on NSG. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with them. Yeah every now and then you get some fan boys arguing about stupid shit with no mechanical expertise, but honestly what would NSG be if we just banned threads cause someone got upset? It'd be the least interesting forums on the internet, like 9gag for skiers.
