so i got up at 510 this morning to get ready for work. After getting ready to leave i couldn't find my keys anywhere. I woke up my wife and asked her if she had seen where i left them last. we searched around the house for a bit but couldn't find my keys. I figured i left them in my car, something i never do but assumed thats where they were.
Jen came outside with me while i was walking towards my car. I saw that my car had been ransacked inside. A big pile of clothes on the driver seat. First thought... fuck someone broke into my car. i got to the driver side door and was about to open when i saw a little movement under my jacket and the top of somebody's head poked out. i just turned around and told jen to go inside which she said why... "please go inside," i followed her in and grabbed my .45.
I walked to the front of my car and tapped on the hood. This dude sat straight up and grabbed the steering wheel and just stared at me. I jumped back and drew at the low ready and said "get the fuck out of my car, get the fuck out" his eyes were the size of dinner plates and he slowly got out with his hands raised. he kept repeating i thought this was my car, i thought this was my honda. i told him to fucking leave and be gone and just sat at the low ready until he was. before he got all the way out of ear shot he turned around and said he left his jacket, could he grab it? i said hurry up and leave. he checked and it wasn't there. said " guess my jacket isnt in there" and walked away.
Jen watched this through the window while talking to the coppers. They showed up a few minutes later and said this was the second report of this in the last few hours. I gave a description of the dude and he was apprehended 10 minutes later. i didn't feel there was a need to press trespassing charges, also nothing was stolen, and the guy was cooperative and realized it was a huge insane mistake that could have gotten people seriously hurt. I had no desire to shoot was prepared to protect Jen and myself.
