Lens question

Alright Im looking into cheap wide angles such as the ef 35mm f/2 or the classic rokinon 8mm. I was wondering if anybody has anything bad to say about the 35mm. I was leaning towards the 35mm because it is wide but seems like you don't have to be as ridiculously close. Also probably putting it on a t2i/t3i and almost with solely filming intent on mountain and Urban. Thank you

35mm on a 1.6 crop is not wide at all. Define your on mountain and urban filming. Chances are you're going to want something much wider.

If I were you, I would stay in the teens (mm) for you lens. With the 1.6x crop factor, staying in the teens will help. I know the 8mm fish eye is around 250$ new, but if you were looking at getting something more expensive, look into the Tokina 11-16mm. Shoots very well for follow shots. I believe sigma has their own version of this, but I can't remember the name.. But if you got anymore questions let me know!

so you cant put a filter on the Rokinon? how does that do in extremely bright sun like hood or colorado

youre obviously new and poor haha
so get an 8mm or an 11-16

theyre both good lenses, i like the fish look so i have an 8
most prefer 11-16, but its more expensive, but theyre both real nice lenses

Alright so right now I have a question. I have a Nikon d3100 with a kit lens. I want to get a tokina and a t3i. I have enough money to get one of them and a couple accessories. So should I get a tokina 11-16 for canon mount and then a cheap filter and a adapter. Or get the t3i body. Budget 650

Get a t3i because 720/60p and manual exposure controls.

Use the Kit lens from that for followcams. 18mm is plenty wide. Shoot at f11 or more, since you're on bright ass snow, and you need to keep your subject in focus anyways. Pick up a polarizing filter. You'll have some distortion from the Kit lens, but it's really not bad, especially for learning - which you are.

Don't drop 500+ on the Tokina 11-16. Only get it if you're REALLY going to get close in there on your subject, or if you're filming when there's limited light out. You don't need much wider than 17mm for the gran majority of your shots.

Thank you. Should I keep my kit lens from my nikon and get an adapter for it? or pick up the kit lens with the canon. I do plan on investing money into glass after Oregon this summer.

use canon glass. Nikon's kit lens isn't worth adapting.

any recommendations on CP filters? 67mm preferred but I can stretch to 77 if It's not a lot more expensive.

Only thing I'd end up with that has a 77mm thread is the 11-16, but I don't see myself getting that again, don't really have a need for such a wide lens other than astro, but I can't justify it.
