Music Video: Ayydos

What's good NS,

I recently shot and cut my first music video with a friend that I met at University this past winter. Everything well extremely well, and we were both stoked with the result. I figured that I'd share it with you guys to get some extra exposure for him!

Let me know if you have some constructive feedback for me. Music videos are very personal, and there is a certain style that tends to stick with the artist that you simply cannot change.

Good job! The music was not too bad, either.

Pros:
- Color Grading looked really nice
- Shots all looked pretty good, very few overexposed or out of focus

Cons:
- A little off with syncing the music w/ video at points (1:30ish)
- I think you should have had him take off the headphones, they were kind of detracting IMO
- Didn't like the motion tracked titles, the shot was too jumpy for them to look good
- Didn't think that the stadium fit the vibe well

But seriously, overall it worked out quite well for your first music video.

And also, don't say "there are some things that you can't change", that just makes you seem like you're not confident in your product and that you're setting up for excuses upon critique.

Thanks for the constructive feedback, I really appreciate it.

I wasn't trying to setup excuses upon critique - clearly I didn't think that quotation through. What I meant is that there were certain elements, such as the title or a particular clip, that Ayydos wanted in the video. I went back and re-edited some parts after my version of the music video was complete. In my opinion, this is completely normal because I feel like he has the final call since he is the one trying to portray his message through the video.

Surprisingly, I had to make only a few adjustments to the draft. There was definitely some good chemistry between us which is very promising for future projects! I really appreciate the feedback and I'll relay it to him. On my part, I'll pay closer attention to the editing pointers that you mentioned (syncing, titles, etc.)

the single hardest part of any creative freelance work is finding a medium between your own creative vision and the clients personal opinions/objections.

I cannot go under 7:3 ratio... 3 being the clients opinons and objections. (always remember, they have no idea how to make a music video. You are the professional in the situation.)
