One of my really great friends, maybe the happiest person alive, and killer skier alexis keeney got broke off a little over a week ago hitting a BC jump outside Boulder, bobbling awkwardly and bouncing off her head, fracturing her C2. She is going to be laid up for a while and her summer ski plans have been exchanged for a proper recovery. Girl KILLS it.
Send vibes, awkward messages, and fun things. Her NS name is GreekPeakFreek.
Gnarliest chick out there! Fortunately she's out of the hospital now and walking around with a walker a bit, but still a long way to go. Send some love to Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and the paramedics and doctors as well-- we were up in a sketchy spot but they got her off the mountain super smooth & quick and took good care of her in the process
What Katrina said-- basically if you look from the parking lot or Baseline up towards the Flatirons, it was waaaay up at the trees in the middle (Ski Jump Trail if you're familiar). We're going to post an edit soon with the crash if you want to see it
The craziest thing about the crash though, is that on first view, it looked like absolutely nothing, and if I were to show the video without the audio of her yelling in pain, you'd think absolutely nothing of it. We built a jump over a ~10 foot high tree and on the hit where she hurt herself it was from not getting enough speed and clipping the top and landing on her side. But she had fallen earlier on an over-rotated 3 that looked 10 times worse and she came up smiling. Really freaky.
wow i cant belive i hadnt heard of her before! she kills it so hard. I used to be a fan of Kaya until watching this, Maude Raymond's edit, and Kelly's edit. Sending vibes my way, hope she heals up fast for next season.
Thanks to everyone for all the good vibes! As an update I'm currently at home (not in the hospital anymore) and I'm in super chill mode to keep my neck in the right position. 12 weeks in that big brace is the verdict, but hey I'm not paralyzed, I don't need a halo brace, and no surgery, so I guess if I had to break my neck I did it right! Recovery process is underway!
