What most people forget it that regulating guns DOES work and DOES keep guns out of the hands of criminals in almost every single other 1st world country in the world. Anyway, lets just keep ignoring the overwhelming evidence and continue blindly following a document written 200 years ago.

Things aren't always black and white. No drugs should be illegal in any country, or at least possession and useage of drugs should be illegal. There are way better ways to deal with things such as drugs than just saying they're illegal and calling anyone who used them a criminal.

There are a lot of laws that are in place with the idea to protect society, when in reality it's a bunch of bullshit. Take the drinking in public law for example. There is literally no need for it, and yet - it exists. Trespassing, Vandalism, Mischief, Disturbing the peace, etc are all things you could be charged for from the result of being drunk/drinking while wandering town. Why is there a need to make the simple act of having a beer while walking from your house to your friends how down the street illegal? Biggest bullshit law in North America as far as I'm concerned.

And putting meth and cocaine in the same ballpark isn't fair to cocaine... crack on the other hand.


Bringing this back on topic. Guns can and do serve an actual purpose in society. Namely: Hunting. As to why a civilian needs/wants a handgun is beyond me, but I'm not American, so it's not really my battle.

bbbbbbingo. I realize that you were contradicting my point and I respect that. This point is a good one that you bring up. Currently in america one of the biggest controversies that did not pass was more in depth and mandatory background checks for gun buyers. This would not take guns away from hunters (unless the hunters happen to be convicted felons or have a mental problem) so there would be no problem there. Even to the argument that it will take guns from people. It will not take guns from anyone who wants one, only keep the people who shouldn't have them from getting them ( I realize that the argument is that they will still get their hands on guns, but this will make it harder, hence, less gun crimes). I don't really see the argument against background checks besides people being to lazy to do them
