What to film Skiing, Skating, etc. with. $200-$300 budget

I've done a lot of research and searchbared things and i just want someone telling me the answers. If i want to film skiing, skating, etc. what do i get to film those? My budget is like $200-$300 and i need something that will shoot quality video. Does the gopro live up to its hype or is there something better that will give me more freedom (zoom, etc.)?

For 200, there isn't anything better than a go pro

definitely GoPro. If you get good with it, you can do some really cool stuff. See abe's videos for proof.

Save up some more money and buy a camcorder or a dslr.

Don't settle for something cheap. Save your money and buy a quality camera or camcorder, you can find some nice ones for around $400

Time is also an important factor, because i want to get in as much summer as possible, but it will still be do able if i wait a couple extra paychecks. Im probably going to be looking at a dslr because i am getting into photography as well.
