Do people ski bum just to ski groomers? I know years ago when skiing itself was extreme, but nowadays when groomers are nothing? I have never heard someone roughing it out to [insert place here] to ski endless groomers. I have been wondering this.
People who enjoy skiing groomers only are usually old people with money or intermediates.
Basically you have to have been skiing long enough to get over groomers, yet young enough to be willing to bum. Most of the people I've met who are ski bums like trees, BC, bumps, or park.
I like carving down a nice groomer with a pair of slalom skis on...the g forces are nice and it's cool way to take a run for fun, if you aren't in the mood for park or trees.
pows obviously the best, but i almost spend more of my time on groomers than the park. Going super fast around a turn with a blind drop in the middle of it gets my adrenalin going way more than just hitting some park jumps and rails.
carving at 70mph is pretty fucking awesome. sure i love skiing bumps, powder, and trees, but sometimes conditions in those types of terrain aren't ideal. i'd rather rip groomers than ski bulletproof bumps or punchy sun/wind affected powder.
there is a time and place for everything and really good skiers can do it all, whether its carving down a groomer, ripping a zipper line through the bumps, slaying a deep powder line through the trees, or hucking jumps and sliding rails in the park.
When did I ever put down racers? I was simply saying I would not join a racing team. I ski park, and pow. I also found it a awesome opportunity to use a cat meme. I have read that post you linked in the past and agree with it 100%, and I would like to say I am not a 12 year old.. I am a 6 year old, n00bz.
I'm glad, I just wanted to make sure. Racers get shit from park skiers all the time. I just have to make sure. And good job with grumpy cat, quite appropriate. (And yes, I ski park and pow too)
not hating on racing here, i did it for a while when i was younger. but its something thats good if you just like to compete, i can get all the same feelings skiing you guys do on my own. i can pick which ever trail i like best, and choose where/if im going to make turns. I never got a chance to try out any speed races, im sure that would have been a ton of fun, but other than that i cant see a reason to race unless your just really driven to compete.
Especially when the parents are with them, and we do something to piss them off. So they start yelling at us, I usually just say "Calm down, this is the terrain park. Read the signs"
