I'm not sure what it was about that year, could be that they were some of the first movies I ever owned but EDIAS and Refresh remain my top two to this day.
Come Find Us and Sunny have been my favs, but thats just for my limited time in the skiing world (past couple seasons). Gonna have to sit down this summer and watch gnar, tbc, and the other greats.
Im not going to lie I really didn't like superheroes. The way I see it: Loved it. Attack of La Nina: Loved it. Bought superheroes: depressed through the whole thing realizing that it didn't compare to the others. It just didn't have the vibe of the other great MSP movies.
Refresh, every segment is so good. Wallisch, B-Dog, Hornbeck, Henrik with his 270 on a 5kink and his dub 12 blunt, the Helsinki segment which is I think my favorite urban segment, and of course the park shoot at Mammoth. And the intro and outro with Warren Miller, it's just to me the best ski flick
These kids never saw TBC when it was first released. Because of this, they will never come to enjoy TBC like we did. Teddy bear crisis, pop yer bottles, and 1242 were ground breaking films, but only if you knew nothing but the other films that came before those.
I feel kinda sad, but I don't want to act like I'm better because I'm older and more knowledgeable about ski films. That's what a lonely asshole would do. I don't want to be a lonely asshole.
