I'm going to be a senior this next year at Clarkson and am also going to be an officer of the ski club for the third year in a row now. There is a pretty big ski & snowboard community at Clarkson and we offer tons of trips and events for everyone in the club all year round. In the fall we hold a ton of movie premiers to help everyone get stoked for the upcoming season, and these premiers include raffles and swag giveaways (usually one big prize per event).
During the season we reimburse gas towards trips to whiteface/gore and jay peak, and also help set up riders with drivers if you don't happen to have your own car. We also do 3 weekend long trips to Jay, Smugglers Notch, and Mt. Snow (<-- my favorite). These trips are also partly funded for so a 3 day trip including slope side condos and 3 days worth of lift tickets is usually around 90-110 out of pocket, which is really cheap considering some of the trips are around 300-350 per person.
You'll usually find a couple kids, including myself and some from state who shred every weekend and around town as much as possible. There is a great free skiing community up at Clarkson and at Potsdam and I'm sure you'll fall into the swing of things.
Got any more questions just hit me up, shoot me a PM or w/e. I might not check back in to this thread for a while but I hope this helps you out with a little bit of what to expect up there.
