Thoughts on "Multi-sport" helmets

So recently I have been evaluating the option of getting a new helmet and, being the cheapass that I am, was looking at some helmets that could serve multiple uses or even considering wearing my biking helmet next season so I wouldn't have to spend any cash. I was just looking for you guys' thoughts on these helmets ski-wise; do they offer enough protection? Do they fit well under hats? Are they comfortable? if you really care about your brain, dont do it. helmets designed specifically for different sports are rated for impacts up to certain speeds. skiing helmets are able to take larger impacts than bike helmets. a bike helmet wouldnt do too much as far as preventing concussions compared to a helmet designed for skiing.

just find one that is lightly used on here or get something like the smith holt park which is relatively cheap. the potential conseqences of buyin a cheap helmet arent worth it imo

Go to Smith optics' website. Then hover over the products tab and find discontinued helmets. Find Adult helmets and the holt park helmet is $15.

helmets actually dont do much to prevent concussions. they help with impact

I use a TSG bike helmet to ski with and its rating is the same of the ski models because they use the same mold, the padding and vents are the only difference in that respect.

Some models of helmets are rated for only "winter sports" use while some are "4 season". It will tell you in the user's manual and usually be found in the technical specs of the helmet.

Hmm, OK, I'm not sure what my helmet is certified to do, but I'll read up on winter vs. summer helmets.
