Me and a friend are starting a brand and making pocket shirts with various rad fabrics at a good price. Shirts will be sold for 12 a peice. Before you guys jump on me and say the market is saturated, we are mostly doing this for fun. However we do want to do a few things differently than other companies. So far we are making shirts with hawwiian print pockets, nebula/space print fabric, a sloth pattern, and a few others. I will post some samples later this week, but would love to get some input on what you guys would like to see and some advice from those of you that have done similar projects.

We are hoping to expand to other cut&sew designs as well as painter hats and five panels in the near future. Pocket shirts are just a starting point.

Thats good, because I don't think this is ever going to become anything big at all. We just started it to do something interesting in the summer together before we all leave for different colleges. After that it will probably die.

and OP, make sure your shirts are fucking outrageous, like nothing anyone has seen before. sloth print with cosmic galaxy breast pocket sounds like youre on the money. could be terribly ugly, but i believe it can be pulled off. interested to see how this pans out

We are trying to avoid that. Pocket shirts are already everywhere but the native print pockets are way too played.

Don't give a shit if it's becoming "overplayed", if the designs are somewhat unique and the finished product looks good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I love supporting stuff like this.

What's bad about having cool shit that nobody has even seen before?

(If you sell shitty spray painted tall tees, then it's a different story).

Woah, plain colored shirts with weird pockets on them of a different color and pattern!
Thats never been done before! You should make 5panels too because everyone wears those and they are so hip and cool!


But seriously, have fun making a profit from $12 shirts. It'll be fun, but it will fall apart before you graduate like any other high school kid.
Also these shirts will be burned out by next summer, maybe even by the end of this summer. So don't ride the style too long.

If your goal is just to have fun, and make clothes that you and your friends like, then keep doing what you're doing. Don't give way to hate and just have a good time.

If you have serious intentions on entering the street wear market, you need to consider a few things:

What new ideas or products are you offering that isn't already available?

What will happen to the brand when you split up and go to college?

Do you have time to commit to making enough stock?

How do you plan on advertising and getting your name out?
