Joining Ski racing team

Me and my friend have decided to fuck the system. We're going to join our schools ski racing team, and show up at the 1st meet/ practice with the baggiest clothes we own, Center mounted twin tips, Bandannas, Park Poles, and helmets that dont have hard plastic covering our ears... good idea?

do it!
i did it and i ended up winning for my region (apulia) in italy, then again there where only 10 other kids from my region who knew how to carve so not much of a claim. there where people from other regions to all dressed up in spandex and i was in my xl saga and centermounted twin tips. tis quite fun to be able to say i fucked the system seeing as how i had never raced before.
only thing i have to show for it tho is a medal and a huge cup that reeks of booze in my principals office

I was captain of my high school race team and I raced to my G-suit. No one else in my high school actually knew how to ski Actually that's a lie there was one other kid on the team who could.

We had a couple people do this in our HS league last year, do whatever you want dude. Just don't be a dickhead while your doing it and nobody will give a fuck.


I would suggest one thing though, if you are going to use one piece of actual race equipment, use poles that reach your elbows at least, or else your gonna get fucked at the start.

I did that my senior year in HS. Joined so I could get out of school to ski twice a week. Wore my normal outerwear, participated when I needed to and rode my Fujatives

Actually making it to the provincial championships and getting to stay at a baller condo with the girls team next door, sweet food, hot tub was really really fun.
Racing makes you a good skier, maybe take it seriously. Instead you guys are just gonna look stupid

I raced in high school in Reno, so we had alot of kids from tahoe and nobody gave a fuck what you wore. The speed suits weren't gonna make a big difference in high school, it's how we'll you cool ski.

Or you could take it seriously, learn a thing or two, and improve your skiing technique and skills.

The only place the "all racers are stuck-up douches and all park skiers are chill, cool kids" dichotomy exists is in your mind.

As someone who's been doing both for a very long time. I can say that over the years park skiers have gotten way worse than racers.

good plan. treating it as a silly endeavor that you couldn't care less about will help mitigate the fact that, unlike you, the spandex wearing intense kids actually know how to ski

I did the same exact thing this year and at the last race I was so tempted to sit tuck down the middle of the gates flipping everyone off and go to the park. They were all assholes and I hated every second of being on the team.
