Hi newschoolers, was wondering if anyone has gone to the U of O, reviews, things to avoid, should i avoid the place itself, whats the deal, im considering applying and want to hear some stories. Also skiing in hood, is three hours too far a drive?
Untrue. We serve beer and wine in our student union on Thursdays haha. The Greek system is dry though, however I can tell you I have a solid hangover from last night so that rule is kind of over looked...
Anyway UO is pretty rad, the campus is great, Eugene's a cool town, and it's a good enough school to keep out the scrubs but not too good for attractive women.
Oh also, you get to be a ducks fan here. Fuck I miss football season..
Anyhow, UO is dope and if you come here go Greek. Best way to insure you'll be raging every thurs-Saturday.
U of O is a great school. It's really got that real college feel to it, and lots of attractive girls from California go there.
I did the drive to Bachelor many times, it's about 2 hours to Bend and another 20 minutes to Bachelor. Hood is about three hours, mainly due to traffic you can hit on the I-5, never any traffic on the way to Bend though. Bachelor is a fun mountain and their park crew does a top notch job (far better than Meadows).
You also have Willamette Pass, which is only an hour away. It's a small mountain with no real park, but on a powder day it can be awesome because there is plenty of steep terrain, and few people. Also, Willamette stays closed Monday through Thursday, so when it pounds snow all week you've got waist deep powder Friday morning.
Do not worry about the school being "dry". That only applies to the fraternities. The fact that the school is dry gives Eugene a great house party scene, no one really goes to frat parties past freshman year, because seriously who is going to pay $5 to go to a party with no alcohol?
Any more questions you can pm me, I transferred to UO and went there for 3 years before graduating.
