This unit will have a small living area with a bed and a lap desk. The living area weighs about twenty pounds. It will include a composting toilet (with worm colony to break it down), a greenhouse, an oyster mushroom production area, mealworms and grasshopper colonies for meat, a solar oven, a sprouting operation, and a quail hutch for around twenty tiny, egglaying birds (good meat as well). I have plans in the works for a solar shower and a solar heating system for the winter.
This whole thing will cost me less than $200 to build and outfit. I am using thick corrugated plastic for the walls, using reclaimed wood and a waste tabletop, and bamboo. I am using a used wheelchair frame for the wheels.
With this unit, I will pay nothing for housing, next to nothing for transportation (just the cost of bike maintenance), and relatively little for my food. This will give me the freedom to educate myself, write books, travel, and do activist work. My ultimate plan is to tour around the country in this for at least a few years and to build a tribe of people living in these things.
Keep your eyes on this blog and the ways in which this project comes to fruition.
