Whaleback is the top place to hit rails in the summer, and has produced some great skiers over the years. It has hosted some great events in the past, like Jib Academy, and is a shame that it was forced to shut down. The goal is to raise enough money for Whaleback to re-open. The article is below about the goals to save the whale! I just wanted to put my two bits in first.
"We are a collaboration of community members in the Upper Valley region of NH/VT conducting a fundraiser to bring back Whaleback Mountain. There are efforts and hopes that Whaleback can continue to survive as a non-profit or similar organization. We are reaching out to the resources of the community locally and beyond to keep “The Whale” alive. We are officially kicking off our fundraiser called Save Whaleback Mountain Ski Area. A fundraising account has been opened, and our group mission is to raise at least $100,000 by June 1st to support the future operations of Whaleback Mountain*.
The future of Whaleback Mountain continuing its winter sports operations is now in jeopardy, and to see yet another little local mountain close down would be heartbreaking to the local community. Fortunately, there has been a huge outpour from the community to support the ongoing legacy of Whaleback, and we are calling you into action.
