Also, what is the point of this reopening? Is it because they see the oppurtunity to attract a lot of people with the new snow? They could have easily been open another week without any new snow.

I think they got so many requests and considering we've gotten like 5 feet of snow in april it made sense to reopen for the weekend. they wouldn't have been able to just extend an entire week because the seasonal employees are all finished on the scheduled closing day. I'm working at the base of peak nine right now and its snowing pretty hard, gonna skin up 10 tomorrow.

PR and marketing reasons. April the slowest month for Breck that has the most amount of snow usually every year. Numbers consistently slow down within the first weeks of April every year. If people ski this late in April and it is good skiing they will talk about. They will tell people how good it was and then spread the word. Most people that visit ski areas from far away, ie Georgia or Alabama, never think there is good skiing in April. They are always extremely surprised to even hear it snowed. Breckenridge as a company is trying to change mindset and get more heads to plan vacations in the empty hotel rooms for the month of April. It is not a short-term profit strategy but yet a long-term business strategy.

^right. They are t tryin to please pass holders. They trying to regenerate interest by pretty much saying "it's so good up here, we decided to re open. Come and give us more of your money"

If that were the case, they wouldn't have closed a week earlier this year.

yeah, although it is different than last year because they announced an extra 2 weekends in march after the facebook "grant a wish" thing for their 50 year anniversary. This year it's purely people nagging on instagram/facebook to stay open with all this new snow. I just wonder if there will be a lot more people than last year providing the increased snowfall. Last year it snowed 10 inches or so on 4/20 and was awesome and with no crowds since everyone gave up last year (they had every reason too though... haha).
