theres this girl i'm seeing right now, in any case we had a little 'conflict' and i said some ridiculously shitty things to her...i'm actually blown away that she still appears to have any interest in me. i was drunk when i yelled at her and i've told her that what i said was entirely unwarranted...in an attempt to make it up to her, i'm gonna take her out and head up to vancouver for some food and drinks. canadians in vancouver, please help me come up with something...
i'm not trying to ask her to marry me, so i'd like this not to be too expensive a cool place thats relatively inexpensive. somewhere where you sit down and actually eat some real food. maybe 30 bucks total? don't bother suggesting milestones or the cactus club.
any suggestions? girls? guys?

No milestones or cactus club...how about Earls?
If not, there's a nice mexican restaurant on the southwest corner of west 4th and burrard, and just west of there is Bimini's and Hell's Kitchen.
Downtown choices are wide ranging. I like the Stone Grill, but it's quite expensive. If you decide on that, go for lunch. It's just as good, and you'll get a better view when you take into account that you can't see shit at dinner time now, since it's dark. Feel free to cruise around Yaletown for some good eats and drinks, and you'd do ok with chillin on Granville Island, even though it's a disgusting tourist trap.
One big thing: avoid Gastown like the plague. There's nothing there except the Old Spaghetti Factory, which come to think of it is pretty cheap. Don't go at night though.

Good value, amazing food. Only drawback is there's lineups sometimes. The place is small but hugely popular.

You into Sushi? Do Tsunami sushi. There's also a sweet bbq/sushi place called Shabusan just off robson. It's about $25 per person, all you can eat, sushi and grill your own meat with a bbq in the middle of your table and a selection of sauces. It's a wicked time and she won't forget it.

yeah it was, but i've never been so looked after in my entire life, the waiter treated me like i fuckin owned the place. everything was incredible and the girl i was seein at the time (who i took there) is a huuuuge food snob (because she was a cunt) and it even impressed her - she said it was some of the best food she's ever had. i'll have to tell her about how reknowned it is...thats awesome.

the boathouse in white rock is pretty nice. and its a lot closer to the border than vancouver is. aurora bistro on main, simply thai on homer, and the dv8 lounge on davie are all good places as well.

I took my girl up to the restaurant up top of grouse in the spring. Not a super class place but really clean and respectable and the food was excellent. Best part though was we got the table right in the corner overlooking the city so its super chill having a good bite and a bottle of wine while looking over a lit up van city. I know its not a super highclass place but good if shes not actually your girl yet and looking to save the cash.

Ok, here's the thing. The singe best restaurant in the Van area to do this is L'emotion, a really high-calibur french place out in west van. Now, it's expensive relative to Milestone's and such places, but considering the food... it should be about 300 bucks a meal, or more. As it is, it's about $40 per person for a three course meal plus dessert. If you're willing to spend a hundred bucks (well, maybe a bit more if you want wine, which I highly suggest, given the occasion), I can't think of anywhere better. Again, there are less expensive options that might do, but they've all been suggested enough.

well kids, after one of you geniuses recommended sushi i decided to look it up...and i fuckin nailed it. sushi's her favorite food and she had no idea where we were going...and then we showed up at shijo on west 4th... it was bomb. sashimi make ian cry he so happy. dropped 69 candian when it was all said and done - gas too i guess. well in any case she apparently loved it cause i brought her home and fucked her on the floor.
thanks for that restaurant JD, i took special note on that one, i'll be sure to use that when the opportunity presents itself. thanks again canadians, and other people who...um...live there.

if you want a really nice place, they are expensive, go to Bridges. it is on granville island with a view over the water. The food is incredible. not cheap though, but very nice. i think you can check out their menu online.

been to van for a couple of days... dont really know the city all that well... but dude take her shopping chicks love shopping... go to metropolis or metrotown... not sure if thats what its called but theres lots of stuff in there... and dude you might need more than $30 to eat if you want it to be fancy, the only thing that $30 can get you is like fast food stuff.

Hey dont diss the cactus club. But yeah, not something to drive to vancouver for. I eat that shit everyday, and everyday i hate the food a little more.
Anyways, its kinda expensive, but the boathouse and the Sandbar are supersweet. Sandbar is under the granville street bridge and you can sit on the heated patio its really nice, including the view. I check that out all the time.
