Those are all great bikes, but boutique and not the utmost value if you are just getting into the sport. Somebody just starting out isn't going to appreciate any performance difference between a Cove or say a Giant (similar suspension designs), but they will have to may more for the name.

Also, there isn't a single company who allows warranty coverage to transfer owners when selling used bikes. If you buy used, you will not be covered by warranty if a problem arrises. Can you circumvent the system sometimes? Yes. Is it worth the risk? Not always.

If buying used, always inspect the bike in person, and bring a knowledgable friend with you to look it over if you can.

I went to a bike swap but there was too much going on so I went to the other bike shop in town and picked up this guy here. seems like a good beginner bike on the cheap.

i've been riding it to work for the past week and it's been fun but i can't wait to get out on some trails. this is what our trails currently look like

I think I have put that bike on the lift at sunday river.

As far as what bike last year I was borrowing a 2002 santa curze V10. It was supposedly the winning bike for the Australian open in 2002. This year I think I will be borrowing a custom steel frame.

Sold it now but this was my bike.

Completely custom build, 08 sunday factory frame.

Forks were TFTuned (The ultimate specialists for rockshox, peaty himself used them back when he was on rockshox)

You can kind of see most of the spec from the photo. Rims were en721s and hubs were pro2s. Sunline DM stem, element flat 780mm bar. Rear shock was a dhx5.0

And my road/touring bike is a specialised tricross

You're right, The whole syndicate was on the sram blackbox program before they got onto Fox. Tim Flooks was head of the rockshox european race program before it was bought out by Sram in 2002. At this point Flooks started tftuned but continued doing services on some of the british sram riders' forks. He's now team manager for the madison saracen team
