you're assuming. With your logic anything can be fake. You're fake. How do you know that is not how they write? He has been to the middle east, and so have I. I would not blame any individual from the middle east to be mad anyway.. we as a nation just go there and act like the shit is ours.. of course they are mad, it is their oil. imo al queda or however you spell it is made up or highly, highly exaggerated to make the dumb common American afraid to ask why we are in war. when in reality we are there to kill anybody who tries to stop us from taking THEIR resources.

I can't believe all the people who just cannot accept that there are people in the Middle-East who feel sorry for the tragedy that happened. Why do you have to try so hard to deny their sympathies? Sure makes you look like a real jackass. If the signs were held up by any other race of people you'd accept it though?


I have a very high view of the US, but this is certainly not helping if this is the view shared by the majority of citizens. It's quite disgusting. Does it strain your belief that much to think that there might just be people who know what a tragedy like this is like and can sympathize with the utmost sincerity?


Is it because it goes against your delusion that they're all mindless savages? Do you now feel guilty about killing so many innocents? Do you now feel guilty because you don't give a shit when 30 of them get killed in a bomb blast?

Is that why you have to deny that there might be truth in it?


I guess the fact that the first person they grabbed was a Middle Eastern man just because he was at the explosion talks books. Bunch of racist fucks.

Because:
a) The pictures come from American media.
b) The same sign was used repeatedly.
Try to empathize with the photographer... It's perfect chance to make a name for yourself.
Yes the Afghans are just like you and me, and I know that some of the Afghans in the pictures really mean what the sign says.
Unfortunately the problem is that I don't think this idea comes from the Afghan's themselves, do you really think that little girl knows about the internet and how easily her picture will circulate throughout the world? No she doesn't, but the photographer sure does.

although it can accurately be compared it to a 'get well' card.

one person buys/makes the card, one person guys around and gets people to sign the card, then the same person delivers the card. Does that mean it's simply profiteering for the person who made, circulated, and delivered the card?

And it certainly doesn't mean the signatures on the card don't mean anything simply because they all didn't make their own cards.


in grade 2 or 3 we had a teacher who asked if any of us would like to sign a card for her husband? (don't remember, might have been brother) who was in the hospital for something. we had never met the guy and were too young to understand exactly what had happened to him but we all signed the card and I'm sure most of us legitimately wanted him to get better simply because we feel sympathy for another human being.

Afghanistan is the worlds largest supplier in opium. I think it's safe to assume fuckery here as well.

And the fact of the matter is, I've been to Iraq. Just background information. Rant is unneeded here because pointless.

Anyway, if your first thought after seeing those pictures is that someone is out for publicity and not trying to spread peace, then you have a pretty cunty outlook on life and you are probably a cunt.

^^I looked into it some more and came across this:

It shows that according the photographer, her primary intention was to take the picture of herself with the sign. She then talked to the Afghans, who had heard the news and were concerned about it. They were asked to pose with the sign to show their heartfelt love.
Though I didn't think most of them knew about Boston at first, this is cool/heartfelt and "get well soon" card like.
If the story accompanied the pictures at first, it would clear things up. My first impression was that it came from the little girl (who had written the sign) and I do believe that if it came from the Afghans themselves it would have been more significant, but again still not many Afghans have the tools to do so (except their media).

Lately it has been general chatter, about 30 min ago they were talking about having a suspect in custody that was receiving air support during transport. However, there is now some conflicting reports saying that there may not be an arrest. Sort of confusing but I guess we shall see

More than you do apparently. If everyone in the previous pictures are holding up an identical sign, it's likely that they didn't all just copy each other, but that it's the same sign.

I'd rather be cynical than be naive like you. The photos are basically an opportunist photographer telling a bunch of random Afghans to hold up a sign. "Hey little Afghan girl, some people died in a place called Boston, hold up this sign for me. You do feel sorry for them right?" Give me a break. Facebook-style "like", "share" nonsense. You're probably one of those people that hits "like" on every feelgood story you read on facebook.

To demonstrate what I saw as real sympathy I put up the picture from Libya. The spelling mistakes and the way in which their signs were written all show that they were all most likely made by the same people carrying them. That displays much more sincerity than multiple people holding up an identical sign produced by the photographer taking the pictures.

There's always that peacenik like you that comes in with "Yea this attack was bad, but what the US does is much worse! So racist! How dare they suspect anyone from the middle east!"

Just goes to show that you have nothing to add, and you think throwing out accusations of bigotry somehow validates your own inflated sense of self-worth.

saw something on the news that a recent family guy episode was taken down because it was about peter winning the marathon by setting off a bomb with his phone and such, the episode was on march 17th i think.
