This is terrible, but it happens everyday. We fuck up and kill civilians every day. People are focusing on the bombings at the boston marathon, because it is unusual, and could be the start of something bigger.
I think pretty much everybody here agrees with you, but can we please just keep this thread to reporting devolepments from boston? If you want to start a thread reporting the daily killing of civilians in the middle east please, go ahead.
Oh i'm sorry, would you rather stick your tail between your legs and try to tell yourself it's not as bad as it seems? Man up, i wasn't trying to make this as tragic as possible, but rather shed light on what this boy truly wanted. and i know for a fact other people received that post as i intended, sorry you got that jumbled up in your head.
Does anyone know which bomb caused the most casualties? I saw the raw footage from boston globe of the first one and judging by the footage it didint seem to injure that many people. Was the 2nd one worse?
I go to Northeastern and I was raised about a half hour from downtown Boston and I've been to the Boston Marathon every year of my life. I was at the finish line less than an hour before the blasts and luckily my friend wanted to go get lunch and convinced me to leave. I also know some people that were in some of the pictures that were posted on CNN, one of which is injured and currently at the hospital awaiting surgery.
This was such a messed up day and I still can't believe this happened so close to home.
3 dead over 175 injured. It has been discerned this bomber is experienced considering he used ball bearings, carpentry nails, and other shit inside pressure cookers.
“I have done post-attack analyses on attacks around the world, trying to learn lessons. ... The timing here, the devices themselves, the ball bearings used—you know, that’s not some kid in his garage putting something together,” Lynch said.
that sounds dumb to me,firstly the timing was off, i.e. if he wanted more casualties he would have done it when the largest crown was finishing and watching, not when the stragglers crossed. Two the devices were not advanced, there was no plastic explosives, suggesting it was most likely home made
although this is an awful thing understand that the US army has bombed and killed so many innocent lives in the middle east its just no one knows because they dont broadcast it over there unlike us where we broadcast everything
Yeah, I'm pretty sure ball bearings are a known and effective item to use as shrapnel. That definitely doesn't make him some kind of bomb making genius.
Oh god more idiots with nothing but emotional fallacies.
Where did I state I was an activist for non aggression and avoiding casualties in Afghanistan?
Im not pretending shit, im putting things into perspective. Grow up and learn how to have some fucking public discourse.
And to those saying something that happened 10 years ago is irrelevant, by that logic, 9/11 is irrelevant. Congratulations, you have reached the epitome of idiotic.
Well do you find it an unfitting description of the rhetoric that these kids are responding with?
It's repetitive, yeah.
Anyway I'm done, I don't want to rustle more jimmies in a thread that shouldn't be subject to that, but damn, people need to tone down the emotion a little bit when trying to attack another viewpoint.
There was a terrorist bombing in America. We are Americans. Forgive us for being emotional, you sack of dogshit. You want to know my completely honest opinion? I don't give a single fuck about any of the families in the Middle East, nor do I care if a few accidentally got blown up by an American missile. I wouldn't expect anyone living in Afghanistan or Iraq to give a fuck that a few people got blown up in Boston yesterday. Why should I have to consider "other viewpoints" when what I care about is happening here and now. Regardless of whether this is some sort of retaliatory attack or just a psychopath with too much pent up aggression, reading about some remote bombing in Afghanistan 10 years ago is not going to change the fact that we are upset and angry. Do you think when cities get bombed in the Middle East, Rajeev and Ahmed are like, "guys, guys, let's not get too carried away and upset. Remember 9/11? We probably deserve this."
I understand that you think you're intelligent and well-versed in current (or past, obviously) events, but copy pasting some bullshit from Facebook and reciting what you heard in your high school lectures last week doesn't make you special.
No one is saying this events aren't newsworthy or sad, but those events happened 10 years ago, the Boston Marathon bombing happened yesterday, obviously its a little more attention worthy if it happened yesterday rather than 10 years ago.
It happened to be about the German school shooting a few years ago. How the media had mock ups, reconstructions and footage of nothing, just to perpetuate the story.
The best bit is at 1.45. An American psychologist reels off a list of things that the media shouldn't being doing (in the hope it deters other wannabes looking for infamy), they break every suggestion.
if you're going to bomb something, you could pick a better target than a bunch of random people out running/spectating. they've failed to make any point at all, so this just comes out looking like mindless destruction rather than the actions of someone with a clear motive. yes, america goes around the world starting shit and making enemies they can't defeat, but i highly doubt the people at the fucking boston marathon had much to do with that, the same as civilian casualties in senseless wars don't deserve to die. it's cowards vs. cowards and decent people keep getting caught in the crossfire. 9/11 was an attack on the world trade centre, a building where people from all over the world worked, and now the boston marathon gets attacked, an event which people from all over the world participate in, and none of the people hurt or killed in either situation deserved to be held accountable for whatever made these nuts angry. it's just a shame that the only people with any sense are the ones who stay out of it and yet they're always the ones that get hurt. meanwhile the people who actually propagate this fuckery are literally sitting around somewhere watching it unfold.
Yeah that's usually what terrorism is... senseless violence with no point at all.
If you are a terrorist (this goes for every terrorist attack, not saying the marathon bombing was or wasn't), attack the fucking politicians. First off the public wouldn't be so pissed off at you because it'd be like killing lawyers in that who gives a fuck. Secondly, if your aim is to influence public policy through violence then shouldn't you attack those that make the policy? I guess what I'm trying to say is that I really wish terrorists would stop attacking innocent people.
Id only feel bad for the janitor and his family that was working the day that capital hill blew the fuck up, honestly. Call me fucked and sadistic or whatever but I agree with you.
