we hear about this kind of shit over there almost daily. sorry if it sounds cruel, but its hard to "care" as much when we've been hearing about this kind of thing non stop for the past 10 years. the last time a major terrorist attack happened in the US was over 10 years ago, thats why we care about this more than one of thousands of incidents that have happened in the middle east. its happening in OUR nation, in a city probably extremely similar to where a lot of us live, at a type of event we probably see and/or participate in all the time. the US isnt a war zone. its completely different, its a much bigger surprise and much easier for people to relate to when its people just like us getting limbs blown off.

yeah what you posted is sad, but i care about what happened in boston, not Afghanistan, sorry.

can we discuss this incident with out comparing where is worse. Our presence in the middle east is NOT justifiable, our military is murdering people over there. All murders are sad. It is 2013, war and violence does not have to be our way of life anymore, regardless whose soil you are on.

So many friends, family and colleagues near the finish line yesterday. I had family members right outside the library, friends at the finish line, colleagues in between the explosions...thankfully everyone I know is ok just a little shaken up.

Well thats disappointing... I wish I could pretend they were taking jackets for runners and people who were injured but because they were so casually walking away I cant even pretend to believe that.

Even in Australia this has made a profound impact. So tragic and unnerving. Poor innocent victims. And that picture of the guys leg that has been blown off is probably the most traumatic picture I have ever seen. Poor guy, my thoughts are with him and the rest of the victims.

I can't even imagine. I really can't, that picture sends shivers down my spine and puts a lump in my throat. The poor 8 yr old taken way, way, way too soon from this world. It just breaks my heart and I almost prefer not to think about it

not trying to take away from this thread or denounce the tragedy that the bombing was, but i figured i would post this as perspective.

yesterday 30 afghan civs were killed in a US bombing. so really whoever bombed the marathon is still much less gutless than the american military/government. now back to business.

lol. looks like he was detained cause he was the closest looking person to what Americans call 'terrorist'. 20 bucks says he had nothing to do with it.

detained him because of 'suspicious behaviour'. was that suspicious behaviour him rolling on the ground in pain after receiving a bunch of shrapnel in his leg?

this is so obviously someone who was in the wrong place/wrong time and who looks like a plausible guilty party so was detained simply to make it seem like they have leads on suspects.

of course this is completely speculative. but I'd still wager money on him having nothing to do with it.

hahaha and on top of that he wasn't detained by police for acting suspiciously. it was a bystander who grabbed him "because he thought he was acting suspiciously". AFTER the fact he has just got a bunch of shrapnel in his leg.

all i was trying to prove is that america does shit like this all the time to other countries, so you can see why they feel the way they do. ill keep it outta the cabbage though.
