Replying to APO Starsky. First thoughts
So I noticed that there is little info on apo skis and I'd figure I put out a first thoughts of the apo starsky I bought. I plan on putting out a full review at some point with pics in the review section. I'm also looking for pointers on how to write a good reviews.
I'm 5'11 and 190lbs type 3 skier and I'm riding the 179's that measure out to be 175. For bindings I'm riding on salomon s914s(driver toe)
Looks and quality: APO puts out a very well made product. It comes out of the factory with a stone grind. They pressed the skis with care, there is no variences in how the fiberglass is pressed, its all in a smooth consistent press. The same goes for the sidewall.
The graphics for the ski are pretty damn weird. I personally like the red and blue color combo but the graphics are so farfetched that the artist was definitely on something. A couple of stickers are gonna be slapped on it.
Feel and ride: The starsky is a stiffer ski and feels very stable when ridding. They felt very stable on landing of jumps. For a stiff ski with a considerable amount of camber camber I suspect the ski to have a ton of pop but I did not get that feel at all. The starsky currently to me rides like 2by4s. I think this will change after I break them in when the tails of the skis will give in a little bit more and allow me to load up on them and pop. The starsky also felt a little bit sluggish to turn over at low speed but at speed felt stable. The starsky definitely prefers to go fast.
Overall: I suspected the starsky to be a 90waist all mountain park tool but right now they feel very dull and lacks spring in its step. I'm not sure it will end up being like that for long once I break in the stiffness of the ski. I can count on the starsky for lasting me a while cause you can tell that apo puts out a quality built product as far as construction goes.
Please throw pointers out on how I wrote this. Thanks everyone in advance. Also can describe more if needed.
