Park or Pow?

I know most of the people on NS (or so it seems) are park skiers. I'm a backcountry/big mountain guy, even though I like park alot.

Here's my question, do more people ski park because of accessibility? Or is it preferred? I'm lucky enough to live in Utah where I have access to backcountry and big mountain stuff.

What's your choice?

I can´t really ski any pow during the season so I ski a lot of park because of the accessibility

big mountain/pow is my true love, although i live in ny, so not much chance. but thankfully, park is fucking awesome too so that keeps me sane

If I could, I would be skiing powder everyday but where I live I really only have access to park, which is fun but pow is better

Its totally backwards where i live there is no park accesibility so we ski pow 24-7 but we try to get out and do urban as much as we can.

I live in Cincinnati Ohio and have been skiing on pure ice for three years. I went out west and had the chance to ski powder but just rode a51 and woodward at Copper the whole time. So i defiantly prefer park. Also, I much rather would watch an urban/park edit then a powder edit. To me, it seems dull yet the guys who do it or crazy.

I have a friend who lives in Virginia with me and when we went to Utah there was a massive snow storm and he didnt want to ski the powder there

I live in Virginia and I now ski more in the summer at Snowflex then I do in the winter. So I think its going to have to be park.

prefer pow but eastcoast livin doesnt fill that need and i get out west every few years.. so i started skiing park

Pow if its there, park if its not.

I really think this is pretty simple. I mean unless you're in some kind of crazy pow mecca park is a super fun way to enjoy your average day on the slopes. Its more fun than carving, ski racing or going in lessons.

I never understand why there is even debate on this. Even the most hardcore park rat will eventually break down and enjoy a day of dumping snow. Might just need to demo some fat skis, as centre mounted twins can be a bit tricky to navigate the pow.

If I could I would just ski backcountry/pow but we don't have the terrain for that in MN so I stick in the park.

Not too sure about this, even on tracked out/ crazily exposed tree days I will still be in them rocking similar runs all day and I love it more than park, but park is a lot different of a feeling. Guess it depends on my mood. I enjoy ripping groomers, mostly to find side hits and I always pole plant in the park. Maybe I should have become a racer. If only I didn't hate competition and my parents had money.

if i had powder everyday for an entire year i wouldnt go anywhere near a park. that being said, park is great for an average day

I live in the north island of New Zealand so we get like 5ish pow days a season (we consider 2 inches of snow on top of ice good). It sucks because we have the sickest terrain i have ever seen out of any ski resort ive been to but its usually not good enough snow cover or too icy. So i guess you could say im a park rider (when we even have a park).

I don't really get to ski pow that mutch, but when i get a major pow days before i hit the mountains i totally ditch the park for those days and spend the day out of it... planning on skiing more pow this next season tho, going to hit the car to the mountains as soon as i hear about a big pow fall

Living in Vermont you've gotta search for pow but its always worth it, never grew up skiing park even on the east coast so that hunt has always been the way I spend my seasons

Just goes back to the age old saying of, 'taking the park to the backcountry.' I wish I had more opportunities to ski pow though for sure.

If you say "park because of 0 pow" your not automatically a "park guy" your basically saying " park, if we had pow i would say 'pow' "

I ski park because that's literally the only thing you can do in ct. But we had a day where we got 2 feet of straight pow and it was the best day of my life
