Help making a few sounds!!

PLEASE! any help would be greatly appreciated! I've been having trouble getting some sounds that I like. Any chance people know what to use/how to make these?
That gritty synth sound that jackin' house producers use...

I've made sounds pretty similar to the first video a few times with massive, just a matter of getting your envelope settings right and using the right oscillators. Try using some effects before your filter, so:
oscillators > distortion > filter, or something like that.
Also, square and saw waves.

A lot of those basslines are layered, or have a few different sounds happening at once. Save yourself the trouble and just layer some sounds, instead of trying to get it all out of one patch. I swear you can get almost all of those bass sounds out of massive, no extra processing or anything.

The sound in the xx video just has a delay on it, try some FM too and a volume envelope and you should get pretty close.

^like he said, a lot of that sounds like layering. I think it was the third or fourth song down that sounded like some sort of square wave with a little distortion on top, with A LOT of sub bass/bass under it.

It helps me to make the lower end of the layers first to get that backbone/*UUUMMPPHH* under the riffs, and then add in the higher frequencies.

Probably detuned saw waves with an LFO on it or something like that, maybe sidechaining.
