Gopro + Aerial shots are about to become a lot more popular

You have a gopro on a heli, whos gonna fly 2ft away from a subject?

Anyone that has that kind of money will have some clue about skiing videography and will stay away from that.

It's completely pointless as GoPro edits from distance look shit.

If someone wanted a remote heli setup then they'll probably be doing what Legs of Steel done for their last film during the road gap shoot, or better.

What exactly did they do for that?

From the "behind the scenes" edit they released this week (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xBjcWJTRWs), it looks like they used a remote heli/quadrotor thing with some kind of DSLR, which surely is 1000 times better, although would obviously cost more than the GoPro version.

Definitely a disadvantage but not all aerial shots have to be of a subject. Landscapes will just look more drastic

I saw on instagram that Vital was using a quadcopter filming at Snowmass today. Shot's looked dope!

That's a really overpriced quad seeing as all it has to lift is a GoPro. But nonetheless it is cool to see that come to market. Also another problem is that with no FPV flying one of those things is hard enough even if you are half way decent with a couple dozen hours logged, so keeping any subject in frame, let alone a moving one, is gonna be hard as hell.

Alport has been flying a gopro on an Xhelipro all year. Watch his edits. You'll see it.

I Bought one about a month ago and have been able to grab some decent shots with it but the weather has to be absolutely perfect.  No wind for the quad and sun for the gopro in order to achieve good looking stuff, it can get very shaky.  Example below:

Its a great quadcopter to learn on but I went ahead and upgraded to the DJI s800 with an NEX/7 on it.  Which means I will be selling the phantom in the next couple of weeks if anybody is interested in trying it out.  If there is some interest let me know and we can discuss details.  Example Below:
