Can't decide what system to go. Canon or Nikon? And some body recommendations would be great.

I like the t3i! it has the variangle lcd too that helps a lot!

This is personal opinion, I may be wrong, but I wouldn't stress super hard about brands or what camera you get. Unless the camera you buy is seriously broken, I think the best thing to do is just get a camera and go shoot. Film will create great results either way just make sure your light meter works and you can get an accurate exposure. Eventually having good glass does matter but at first I would say do a tad bit of research and spend like 50 bucks.

As said earlier, don't worry about what camera to buy, as long as it was halfway quality during its day. I have an N6006 that produces shots just as sharp as my friend's F6. I mean it doesn't have the 11 AF points, or the 8FPS or the metering qualities of the F6, but I can manage without it :)

Id say one of the most important things to look for is if the camera you are getting has continuous AF (auto focus) while filming. Most have AF but it stops working when you film so you gotta try it out or talk to someone that knows which ones will do it while filming.

I'm going to assume you're actually looking for a 35mm film camera. I would go with a nikon. All of the lenses are great and it can be easily adapted to most digital cameras so if you want you can use the same lenses for shooting film and digital. I use a Nikon FM. I got it for 30 bucks on Craigslist with a 50 1.8 and it does pretty much everything I need it to do.
