So my friends brother has a disease called Muscular dystrophy and is wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. His chances of reaching his 30th birthday are slim. He made a blog called laughing at my nightmare where he posts stories and pictures about his life. Every one of his stories are great, most are funny but some can get pretty serious.
That's his first post ever and it's definitely worth a read.
And here is the documentary that was just posted to youtube. everyone should watch this. It really make you think about how someone with such a challenge in life can persevere and make something out of their life.
Surprised this got no posts. I saw the thread last night, and I haven't been able to stop reading his blog. What a powerful individual, that's for sure. He sucks me right into his life and I immediately stop being a little bitch about anything that is insignificant (not that I do anyway, but it really puts it to a point).
Read the first post. Will probably read some more throughout the work day. This is my favorite quote from the first post he made, "I love sleeping, it’s one of my favorite things, but about a year ago my stupid doctors ordered that I start using a bi-pap to help me breathe while I sleep. My basic response after trying the machine for one night was “fuck that, I’d rather die in my sleep than have to wear that every night” and I haven’t used it since. I’m probably being ignorant."
Really makes the kid seem like just a regular kid who doesn't see himself as someone who is different or disabled. Thanks for the post OP.
His blog posts are truly amazing. They make you laugh and they can make you cry. Mostly laugh tho. In the documentary they talk about there sence of humor but don't really show anything funny they do. Here's a video with shane and his brother andrew who's my friend. It's fucking hilarious.
