First experience skiing.

I didn't search to see if this was already a thread, but I figured it'd be cool to hear about you guys' first time skiing.

My first time was five years ago during my sophomore year of high school (wow that makes me feel old) at Seven Springs. I finally got the hang of it by the end of the night, and for my last run decided to go down a more difficult slope. It was foggy as shit, and I instantly knew it was a bad idea when i got down to the slope. I made it about 15 feet down the first part of the slope, caught a crazy edge, flipped over and separated my shoulder. It was super embarrassing considering everyone on the lift was making ambulance sounds and saying how i basically exploded, considering all my shit was scattered on the slope. Ski patrol had to put me in the sled and take me down to the lodge. Super bad experience for my first time skiing, but I kept with it, and absolutely love it now.

At COP visiting my grampa in calgary. Ran into a guy in a shiny superman helmet. Best memory. When i was 9

4 years old at keystone, and i just wanted to find jumps. i got yelled at alot by snowboarder when i 50/50ed boxes at the age of 4.

I was probably around 7 yrs old when i started, used to be a little douchebag, cutting in the lift lines and didn't see how making turns would make me a better skier. Also, it would be interesting to see when people started skiing park (i was around 15).

my dad ducttaped 2 by 4's to my feet and pushed me down the sled hill yelling, "TURN".

yea no doubt. since most of my friends i ski with stay in the park, i started trying park stuff by the 4th time i went skiing.

was about 16 first time i skied. Went with friends parents and got brought down a diamond for my first run......after tumbling down the whole run it was all uphill from there haha

haha dude, my friends would do the same thing. not even teach me, and just say "alright, see you at the bottom!" and i would be on the top of the slope with no clue what to do. i guess it wasnt a bad thing teaching myself

never forget


When I was two, I remember romping through the yard on plastic skis, first real experience was the next winter at Sunday River.

They had this sketchy handletow and these wierd half-hulahoop things stuck in the snow, I remember snowplowing under them for like half an hour, then my parents taught me how to make snowballs and we went inside.

It was a sad day when they replaced that handletow and removed that double chair, those were basically my entire skiing life until I was 10

When I was 9 I went straight down the bunny hill in a snow plow racing other kids and saying I had a need for speed.

The first time I ever went was when I was 5 at winter park, my family was on vacation, I spent the entire first day crying because my feet hurt. The second day I absolutely loved it and I wanted to spend the entire day out there. Unfortunately I never skied again until around 6th grade when my class went on a field trip to our local ski hill, I re-fell in love with the sport and have continued to ski since that day

first clipped in, in canada when i was 12 (18 this week), and skied for 1 day at some random resort while visting friends who live there, got the hang of it pretty quickly, and went down a red after about an hour however was a steep section and kinda looked like it dropped straight off into a harbour (obviously didn't ooking back on it) but shat myself up at the time and had to side slip down the entier steep section standing next to my dad
