Hurricane Sandy Devastation From My Perspective (NJ)

Today I went down the shore to surf and we decided to check out Sandy's devastation throughout the Jersey Shore. We went to my uncles house right in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. I just wanted to share some pictures I took with you guys. It really is sad how so many people were affected by this nasty super storm. So many houses down there are still untouched 5 months after Sandy hit and the road to recovery is going to be a long one.

damn, some of those pictures are pretty awesome. I think that a lot of people dont realize that its still affecting everyone who lives down there. Best wishes to your uncle and everyone else who lived there.

I was not a fan of the vignette in every picture. It really detracted from most of them

Sorry about the vignette, i thought it added to the picture and gave it more depth but I guess not..

It's nuts how much damage there still is. I've only ever seen pictures because I'm from Wisconsin, but I'm sure the feeling of seeing all of the damage in person is even more sad/shitty.

If you do want to add some vignette, make it very subtle at the corners and on the edges to have it basically be seen by the subconscious. Yours somewhat detracts from the image because of the prominent oval shape it creates.

2 things, Nick, besides the vignette, which has already been touched upon.

1. Too many. I try to limit myself with my pictures and I try to choose the best 5 if possible, 10 if needed. Simply put, nobody really cares to look at 20+ pictures around the same location unless they're REALLY good pictures.

2. All underexposed. I got shit from this a while back with underexposure in my black and white shots, so I stopped doing it and realize that I was dumb to do it in the first place. They're all so dark, bring up the highlights and lights, it would make them a bunch better.
