I have had lots of them. Hard to pick just one.
About 10 years ago, my 2 buddies and I decided to drive to Tremblant from the u.p of Michigan. All was good, we got to some little nothing town just past Sault Ste. Marie. Decided to stop at a tim horotons for some food, and a bathroom break. I was taking a piss in the bathroom, and in walks this guy wearing ski pants. I was standing next to him at the sink washing my hands, and decided to take a chance and ask him if he new anywhere to get any green. (We didn't want to take any with us over the boarder). Well, I ask him, and he ends up being the coolest guy ever. He says "yea man! Let me give my buddy a call, how much do you want?"
We sat and eat some food for about 15-20 min. His buddy shows up, also super cool. Gives us some wicked hydro for super cheap, and off we go.
It is now like 4 am, and we are in the mountains of Quebec. It felt like we were in a different world, because it was so dark out, and we hadn't seen any cars for a long time. We were smoking a joint, listening to some good tunes. My buddy was driving, I was sitting passenger, and my other buddy was in the back. I go to pass the joint to my friend in the back, and he drops it. My friend who is driving starts to panic because he doesn't want his seats burned. So he decides to swerve off the road on to the shoulder, and start to brake. Well, the shoulder was covered in snow, so now we are trying to stop in by my buddies 93 toyota corolla with no abs doing 75mph. So we are sliding, still sliding not stopping, and I look up and see that highway kinda turns to the left, and there is little dirt side road coming up that leads on the highway. Everything is slow motion now, as we get closer I see that the highway turns to the left because we are on a fucking mountain and there is a massive massive drop. So now we are all screaming because it looks like we are going to slide off this mountain. I actually contemplated jumping out. We come to a stop, and can not see the road or anything else in front of us. Only, a massive mountain range. I tell everyone not to fucking move because I had no clue how close we were to the edge. I crack my door real slow, and poke my head out, and look down. The front tire, was 2 feet from the edge, the bumper and front of the car was actually hanging over the edge. Needless to say, that was prob the scariest moment for me in a car. That would have been a great anti-drug commercial. Young and dumb.
The second one, was about a month ago. I was skiing by myself at snowbird. I can't remember which run I was one, because I am new to Snowbird. I was in heaven with all the cliffs, drops, and great terrain. I am skiing right next to a roped off section, the rope ends, and I make a hard cut the right to ski some un touched snow through some nicely spaced trees. There is a very tiny rolling hill that I go up and over, come up to the crest of the hill, look over and it is a good 50 foot drop with rocks. Fuck that, I try and go back up a little to ski around. But nope...the snow is so dry and fully in Utah, that I wasn't going anywhere. Just exhausting myself trying to. It was then, that I had realized that I got cliffed out. Stupid me for not paying attention to where I am going, especially at a place I had never skied before. Panic set in for a second. I decided to take my skis off and try and hike back up. I took my skis off and stepped to the side, and sank right away up to my chest in snow. Very very hard to move, I was making very very slow progress up hill. I ended up loosing my balance and slipping. I dropped both of my skis, and watch them fly over the edge of the cliff and tomhawked all the way down the mountain losing sight of them. OHH SHIT! Is was went though my head. So now I am trying to traverse the side of the massive cliff, trying to go up and around it to get down. I am holding on to a bush/branch on a very steep slope when suddenly... it breaks. Imediatly I gain speed. I slide over a bunch of rocks on my ass, going backwards because I got spun around. I ended up falling off the cliff, which is a good 50 feet and somehow landed in the snow. Extremely lucky, very dumb, I will never do that ever again. Snowbird is no joke.
