Armada TST vs. ON3P Jeffrey

Hi All,

I'm looking for a new all mountain/ big mountain ski to replace my '09 line blends. I love my blends but want something a little more stable at speed and have more crud busting power.

My stomping grounds are pretty exclusively Tahoe and Aspen Highlands. I'm 5' 8 160lbs and an expert skier, raced in college and spend my time now either in the trees or hiking the bowl. However I do also love a ski i can lay on edge and carve some great turns on as well as get into the bumps with. I'm definitely more of a precise deliberate short turn guy than a heavy hitting charger. I get about 14-21 days in a season but am not local enough to ski pow consistently. I've kind of narrowed it down to the Armada TST in a 184 or the ON3P Jeffrey in a 181. Ideally I'de like an early rise tip but don't need a tail rocker, I don't honestly ski switch.

I'de love to hear what you guys think!

If you never ski switch the tst is not a bad option but the wider platform of the jeffery will probably give you more stability and honestly you will probably like them better than the tst i havnt skied them only the caylor but i can assure you there skis are fun as hell and super durable

ON3P Jeffrey is the best ski I have used. Floaty in powder, stiff enough on hardpack, stable at speed, and very playful (loves being in the air). I don't have experience with the Armadas but I have a considerable amount of time on Jeffreys and I can't say enough about them.

I just got rid of my 2012 Blends, and was in the same boat.

I ended up getting a pair of 193 TSTs along with a pair 188 Moment PB&Js. Couldn't decide between the two, so I just picked up both for about the same price as each ones MSRP at the beginning of the season.

I figure the PB&J is a stiff playful twin while the TST is a soft/nimble directional half-charger, so there shouldnt be too much overlap. Using as my daily drivers (choice depending on mood) for Jackson Hole or Alta/Snowbird.

OP The jeffrey will be better in pow and better switch, while the TST is just as playful but less so switch and more directional. TST is still close in the pow pow because of that crazy wide/tapered tip. If you ski switch, get the jeffrey, if you dont get the TST.

no shit, thanks for the insight. i dont think I said that. so its fucken retarded to assume that's what I meant. Im really not trying to start another newschooler kiddie argument, so dont take this to heart. I didnt have the time earlier to get into detail of why to choose one over the other...

all I meant was if he skis switch a lot, it should be an easy choice. Don't you agree.

I don't agree at all. It assumes that the only difference between a Jeffery and TST is the tail rocker..

Well good luck skiing the tst switch in a foot of pow, you will end up on your ass if you mount on the suggested line......the jeffery is the obvious choice if you are skiing switch. Although tail rocker helps with other things like turn initiation and makes the skis less hooky, it is an obvious choice if you are throwing down big switch landings/takeoffs in powder

throw in the moment jaguar shark. moment skis are burly and generally stiffer than other companies.

if you are considering the tst and want a big mountain ski , maybe give the norwalk a look as well!

This man speaks the truth, Norwalks are the big brothers to TST's. Still good on hardpack and you won't be wishing they were wider on a deep day
