Rent dilemna

The homeowner should be responsible for something as serious as that. Review your lease/contract.

It totally depends on the terms of the lease you signed. Whos responsibility is it to fix the house, yours or your landlords?

Pay your rent but document everything. Conversations, dates, times, take pictures or video of whats not usable and how so. Therefore if the time comes where you can go to small claims court you'll make a case.

most land lords are reasonable people. I would just call him or her up and be like I'd rather pay rent for what we agreed to pay rent on instead of what you have supplied me with. I would for sure talk to him about it.

most importantly get it in writing that you have notified the landlord of the problem and give them ample time after you have told them to allow for repairs. after you have proof that they know of the problem, have had time to repair it and have chosen not to then you may be able to withhold the rent.

also just remember there are a lot of things your landlord can to make your lives miserable so make sure it's worth it to piss them off.

So the issue has not been taken care of, and I would like to move off of the property because of the issues that are occurring. Does this mean that my other roomates must move out too? Or can I on my own leave the situation?

Since you're on the lease (I'm guessing) you're usually still liable...basically you still legally live there regardless.
Hopefully you have full documentation of the damages such as pictures of what's fucked up and of communication you've had with your landlord, all of which are dated. Your best bet is to find a lawyer for some legal counsel; if you're a college student, your university will probably have a lawyer you can consult with. If not a lawyer, at least review YOUR state's homeowner/renter laws, sometimes they are specific to your city, as well.
Legal issues with landlords are really tricky situations; basically, they will do anything they can to not pay for anything that you complain about--broad generalization, but from my experience it's basically true. Sadly, while there are lots of laws to protect tenants from evil landlords, there are just as many to protect landlords from retarded shitbag tenants.

Good luck man; the best thing to do is take pictures and report any problems to the landlord immediately, especially right when you move in! It does kind of sound like you're in the right on this one, though, cause you were in touch and they haven't done anything...it's totally dependent on the situation and all the details, though.

Well in CO state law says that if major repairs are not repaired by the landlord within 7 days (its been 3 weeks) I can withhold rent, fix the damages myself and deduct it from future rent, or move out. What im wondering is if i move out, does that mean that my other roomates must move out to? as they are on the lease but certainly couldnt pay my share on top of theirs. That kind of thing changes from state to state, i guess this thread would do better in regionals honestly.
