Also, how easy is it to learn modern physics? I've been playing with the idea of self studying the lagrangian and hamiltonian mechanics when i have time. Scale of 1-10?

Yaayyyy, I just got back from shooting and this thread is still on the first page! I put some 1cm target stickers on the paper target today and was able to pick them off at 10 yards with the G19. Not too shabby. Put another 100 rounds through it, and now I'm eating leftover steak and potatoes from last night's dinner. Sorry I'm not sorry, Canada.

i'm sorry but I just had to say this. studying at the coffee shop. this obnoxious guy is on a date and bragging about how much damage his 45 can do to a gong. and laughing at how he spends so much money on ammo. She clearly isn't interested.

Then two girls walked by holding hand and outloud he says "look at the two dykes walking by" and then says "I can never tell who is the man and who is the woman".

this is what canadians see gun people as.

uh well I don't know that much myself. A math major should have no problem, assuming you remember your basic physics. For my I'd say like 6/10, but the hard part for me with langrarian/hamiltonian stuff is the mathematics.

Don't know why you are beaking Canada.

I'm from Canada, I love shooting guns, I have been to the shooting range a few times, and have shot all sorts of rifles and pistols. It's fun. Of course I'm not a very good shot, but I do enjoy it. Lol what is steak? We only have seal and maple syrup here...

Why would I ever shoot someone who isn't going to threaten my life?  The only time I would use my weapon is in self defense when my life is threatened I have said that before. 

And your right comparing countries can be a tough issue due to social and cultural differences, but taking a page out of Xtreme's post we have a much higher gang population in the US than Canada or countries in the UK do. 
Considering they constitute the overwhelming majority of our violence and gun crime why would taking rights away from law abiding citizens be the answer?  By that logic the millions upon millions of people who are responsible should suffer because of a small minoritys issue.  Fucking dumb 

What is a better solution is to stop giving criminals breaks and make sentences more punitive.  It is all too common that you see convicted criminals released early from their sentence and they end up committing similar if not worse crimes.

Crying over a 230 year old piece of paper?  Really?  If you don't like the laws we have here that's fine but don't tell us how to run our country.  America was founded on the priciples of individual liberties, and when they are going to be taken away from us, I have a problem with that.

meh....i hunt, and have a few weapons but i still don't see the need for concealed carry.  This reminds me of the american who came up for the Calgary Stampede, got asked "If they went to the stampede yet?", then felt uncomfortable....wishing he had his off duty gun.

Little bit ridiculous.

That would be called anarchy.  Criminals don't follow the laws on the books because judges let them off easy. 


 If guns are bad then why are cops armed?  Should we start looking at reducing their magazine capacities, and ability to carry because they must be pussies for carrying a handgun.

Both are regulated, both can be used as a weapon to kill.  Cars are dangerous in the hands of a drunk, guns are dangerous in the hands of a criminal.

cops are in uniform, open carrying, and have multiple non-lethal options to go to first, plus more training than your average gun owner.

how often does a citizen pull over a drunk driver in their cars to stop them from driving drunk? you can't make cars analogous to guns.

CC permit holders, sportsman or other law abiding citizens who own guns aren't the problem.  If you are going to ban guns outright then the discussion needs to be had.  If guns are so dangerous then why are police armed to protect citizens? 

No one is lobbying for civilians owning nukes tanks rocket launchers etc. Get over it.

in which way are cars regulated? drivers license? not very similar, cause literally anyone has one.


the point is that a car is not a weapon by definition and its pretty tough to kill someone you dont like with it. if i wanna kill you, i wouldnt use a car, or a spoon (another bad analogy constantly popping up), but a gun.


i am not saying that a gun law would be an instant fix with your crime structure, but there is no other way. i am pretty sure that gang violence is a result of lax gun regulations and not the other way around. there are "pretty bad" neighborhoods in cities i know, like munich or vienna (I AM NOT SAYING THAT ITS THE SAME). with immigrants, unemployment and all that stuff. but there is literally no way how armed gangs can form themselves. sure, they can smuggle weapons accross the border and all that, but there wont be 50 guys legally buying a gun and use it to kill 50 armed others.

thats the point. obviously (at least at first) criminals will get their hands on weapons, but you cannot make it so easy for them and hand (soon-to-be) criminals weapons legally.

US Marshall's conceal their firearms, I don't see you having a problem flying on airplanes in the US now do you?  

1) Whether you conceal or open carry, your still carrying a firearm. 
2) I have more firearm training than most do in order to legally CC
3) I have non lethal force option too, fight or flight
4) If a cop feels his life is in danger he is armed and able to defend himself/others
5) Cops can check to see if I am a felon which prevents me from owning a firearm. 

But since cops carry handguns to protect themselves they must be pussies right?  Your logic is so flawed.

this isn't really true. gang violence is more of a result of the economic class separation and the failed drug war.

It boggles my mind why people think someone deserves prison time for doing drugs, or decades-long sentences for dealing drugs, yet thinks its totally ok if someone wants to walk around in public with a deadly weapon.

that being said the lax gun regulations DO help criminals get ahold of guns. It's not like criminal organizations are manufacturing weapons. They initially have to come from gun manufacturers. Every gun used in every crime was at least initially sold legally.
