so me and my friends are starting to film a lot and I was wondering what editing software I should buy to make some ill edits. Id rather not spend alot but I will if it is needed.
The most popular editing programs are Final Cut pro and Adobe Premier. Most people edit on those. I would go for premiere if you can, adobe has a lot of other programs specifically for things like coloring or titles or animation which all work well with premiere. If you take the final cut pro route, i would not go with final cut pro X, it is just a boosted iMovie. Get Final cut pro 7- its less "user friendly"
Premiere Pro and Final Cut are the obvious top two choices and are generally regarded as the best and most used. However, these programs cost a LOT of money. If you want to invest that kind of cash in a program, go for it, however I expect that a lot of posts in this thread will tell you to torrent it.
That is certainly an option, but if you are trying to purchase a program legitimately, I suggest looking into an academic license for either Premier Pro or Final Cut. Basically it's a student/teachers way to get the program a bit more affordably.
Another option is to check out Adobe Premiere Elements. I use this quite a bit for my personal editing and works pretty well. If you are not doing anything too crazy in depth, it works just dandy. If you're looking for the full shabang and you think you are going to be using every editing tool available, then stick with the pro options.
Ive used Final Cut pro 7 and Final Cut pro x. Dont listen to people, Final Cut Pro x is literally an easier to use Final cut pro 7 with some other add ons that make it alot better. Adobe Premire is also supposed to be very good, but i never got into liking it near as much as Final Cut pro
