Obsethed's on groomers?

Was looking at some 2nd hand obsetheds as Ive started to do some powder with some of my friends, the thing is we do it if/when we find it rather than head straight for it, my question is would these be able to be skiid on normal pistes?

You can ride any ski on piste if you're a good skier, so tell us more about you, height, weight, ability level, aggressiveness, size you're considering (helpful to know, because if you're 5 foot 120 lbs intermediate skier trying to ride 189's, it may be tough)

Im about 6" & 180ish lbs, Skiid for about 15 years now and would say I'm intermediateish sort of level and was thinking about 179's, Just wondered how comfortable they're going to be on groomers with them being so wide

If OP is looking at the ObSethed's from the past few seasons that are 117 in the waist, then I highly recommend them on groomers. Obviously it's a pow specific ski so it's not like you're riding a race ski, but when I demoed the 189's a few years back I was amazed at how well it handled on hardpack. It is a surprisingly nimble ski for it's size and has impressive edge hold.

Like j said, a good skier can ski just about anything anywhere. I personally love big soft skis on groomers for what they are.

they'll be fine.  Those are the first gen Obsethd IIRC.

Thanks a lot guys :) While im asking noob questions, is there any oldish (that I could get second hand) really good skis for just skiing groomers, that I could use for when skiing with family?

Well any slalom ski would be good, salomon sc are cheap and they are fine.

But if you need a twin tip aka park ski, just buy something whit a good camber and you'll be good. I ski my opus on groomer's here in Quebec.

For just charging groomers, I'd rather have a pair of GS skis, GS skis are whole load of fun. Slalom skis don't feel right if they aren't on edge.

It sounds like you spend a lot of your time on groomers. Be realistic about what you're skiing, if you're spending most of your time on groomers and harder snow why ski a pow ski all the time? If your looking for a one ski quiver I'd recommend getting something between 88- 105mm underfoot that will rip far better on groomers and tracked out off- piste than the obsetheds and still float when you come across some untracked. For specific recommendations where do you usually ski, do you ski switch often, and are you usually skiing in the trees or open bowls and faces?
Or go with the two ski quiver like you where saying, thats probably your best option. You don't need a true (race spec.) SL or GS ski, those will kick your ass far worse than the obsetheds on groomers.

Those will be awesome for super g turns on hardback, that year, I believe the waist was sub 110, with little to no rocker (correct me if I'm wrong here). Those seem to be a great choice!
