Bar/bat mitzvah videos?

So in a little more than a month i am going to film, then make make a video or one might say "montage," for a friends bat mitzvah

I was wondering if anyone has any experience, or knows what the video should be like, or any examples that could set a precedent for me.

I have seen a few wedding videos (embedded hopefully below) and was wondering if it should be anything like that.

equipment:
-i have access to t4i, t3i, 5d mII
-Kit lens 18-55
-tamron 17-50 f/2.8
-18-105
-rode videomic pro w/ dead cat
-glidecam hd 1000
-some tripod not really sure of name
(i have accès to a lot of equipment through friends and family, not all mine)

look up bar mitzvah videos if you can find them, and do they want a video of the event, or a video to show at the event? The former would be similar to a wedding video in some regards, the latter would be more of a highlight reel of the kid. Also ask the parents. They are paying, and they probably have a few things in mind. This way, you can be sure you both know what is being asked/expected, and they do some of the work for you, win-win

I hope your jewish because your going to be in for a hell of a ride!

I shot about a dozen barmitzvah's and I still dont know what the hell is going on or what they are doing.

Stay alert, follow the kid as much as possible. Film cut ins during dull moments of long prayer.

dont film the women too much, they usualy give you the snake eye.

and also I hope your getting payed for this.

the 18-105 is the kit lens that goes with the 5d

Just make sure that your stand towards the back you dont want to get in the way of the services. for my bar mitzvah they filmed before a little and had me just practice but during the actual service they stood in the back with tripods.

18-105 doesn't even exist... I guess he meant 24-105 in which case that's fine.
