But if I survive and there's still government and shit, I'd join the armed forces.
If everything is destroyed and fucked up, I would build bartertown, complete with pigs generating electricity, the gulags, thunderdome and badass vehicles.

well i would accept the ultimate sacrifice and leave my friends and family to help save the human race from becoming extinct. By reproducing, at the first sign of a nuclear threat i will begin to help reproduce the human race by having lots and lots of sex. I will create a super human generation to fight in the post apocalyptic war against North Korea or Russia or whoever. just tell me when to start.

Hah, good luck to everyone saying they will survive unless its like fallout and you've hid underground for a few decades or so when the radiation clears and the sun is unblocked and all that. Radiation is still in the ground so you'd be fucked there. All the food/waters contaminated. Honestly, being the first wastelanders would suck ass.
