well then when did your doctor say you'd be back to normal again? This isn't a very common situation.... coming to NS was a terrible idea. We don't know shit about this.
Just because you "feel healthy" does not mean its totally healed. If it were me, I would wait. Nothing is worse than prolonging your rehab. I would wait until your doctor gives you the OK
I know just from looking through some motocross catalogs that motosport.com carries some lace up ankle braces, probably in the protection section or something.
I assume OP is going to have these pins in for life. I know I have a couple in my finger and they're never coming out unless for some reason they cause irritation.
I would say wear an ankle brace and make sure the doctor has cleared you to go.
I've been wrapping my foot before putting it in a boot when I go skiing since I broke my foot. Not exactly the ankle but you could benefit from it as well. But as the above posters said, a brace would probably be better. I'm just not sure how you get a braced foot into a ski boot.
you could use those "tight socks" type of things which are used to support ankles or these 15 inch straps that you wrap under and behind your ankles and then together which also support it a little. that way you will probably still be able to fit into a ski boot.
