when i read threads on mobile (iphone 4s) the pictures don't ever fit into the thread. also, it would be really nice if i could expand the image in another tab. often i can't make out what an image is because its too small, and theres no way to expand it.

notifications when quoted would also be great.

It would be really nice to have a link directly to your own regional. Like if I click on Regionals under my Quicklinks, it would take me straight to New England instead of the entire listing.

Another thing to add on to this is that they might get pretty long so there could be a show/hide feature after a few replies

That would be cool but how about inverting that, so say you can click on the quote a person made to go to that post, would be useful on the longer threads when you want to see the full post etc.

The regionals need a complete overhaul, they're totally underused and consequently negatively affect NS's growth and staying power in places outside of North America. I think strong regional forums can help draw traffic to NS from countries where people are mostly checking sites like Zapiks, Downdays or Skipass now.

Firstly they need to be re-grouped, some of the groupings make no sense whatsoever (my fault since I suggested them back in the day. Since then I have solved geography). Many of the forums can be condensed, for example we don't need individual forums for Belgium, Luxemburg, and the Netherlands, or England, Scotland and Wales.

What would really be a HUGE step up for the regionals is to have a world map appear when you click on the "Regionals" tab, with color-coded regions you can click on to access that forum. If you want to go to the Northeast forum, you click on the northeast. If you want to go to the Austria forum, you click on Austria. And so on. Much more user-friendly and a cool feature, way better than the current system of scrolling through a long list looking for the desired forum.

I think the regionals are the most under-utilized forums on the site, which is sad because a strong regional presence is important for NS to be awesome.

and personally I think we should have a FOR SALE/WANTED for camera gear. enough people have threads (including myself before) that have been in M&A that are selling lenses, bodies, bags, etc.

The option to click on someones user name from an inbox message on iPhone mobile.

The option to view all message history on mobile. (the only way to view message history currently is if you know the person's username, hence my first suggestion)

The ability to sort threads by date created.

Dunno if this has been talked about but I'd like a little more info on the Reply page. Right now, the only thread information shown (unless it's a Quote Reply) is the name of the thread, and the forum it's in.

Adding the OP's name to the reply page would add a little more sense of community. Seems so impersonal to refer to the thread maker as OP, but most of the time I don't remember their name after clicking onto the reply page. Something simple like:

Rate and Reply to Mr.Bishop's Thread: "Forum Feature suggestion megathread"

Rather that...
Rate and Reply to Thread: "Forum Feature suggestion megathread"

Also, a lot of the time i open a new tab for replying to a thread so I can reference the original post while typing my reply. But it would be nice if the original post was layed out on the reply page like it is on a Quote Reply so I wouldn't have to manage multiple tabs. It would be nice to have that reference on the same page.

This times 100!  and condensing the regional forums to a mere 4 or 5 for the US would be solid.  People tend to go to the forum that they believe will get the most traffic/views.  That's why most everything is just dumped in SG.

A map is certainly a cleaner layout and more user friendly than a wall of text that you have to pick through, with a handful barely used.  Not saying this will solve everything with regionals, but certainly an excellent first step.

So, if i'm hearing you right... have the "reply page" basically built right into the "thread page"? This would be great, that way you don't have to open a new window/tab to reply and you can reference the thread without going back and forth.   Maybe something like this?

For multiquoting and overall posting, can we have it so that when you hit reply thread, the related articles section disappears, the reply box and buttons drop down, so then you can read through the thread as you post. Then if you want to hit quote reply, you can type your first reply, scroll back up the thread, hit quote reply for the next box, etc...

That make sense?

I disagree; being unable to edit your posts is a good thing -means that you need think(to an extent) before you post. Also, when someone does post something stupid and other members start to slay them for it, they'll more than likely edit their post to avoid the public shaming. If you say something stupid, you deserve to get called out on it. Being able to edit your posts will put a halt to this.

When you put your cursor over a thread title, have a small window pop up showing the first two sentences of the thread or something. (Not a pop up, more like an annotation?)

That way you can decide whether or not you even want to venture into that thread.

1. You should be able to do all quote and regular replying without having to go to a separate page where you can't see the thread.

2. You should be able to expand pictures within the thread and not have to open them in a separate tab to view them at full resolution.

3. Thread rating should not be based on up down votes of comments. There should be a way to up or downvote the thread as a whole like before, 1 vote per person.

4. An option to organize threads by other means besides last reply... ie: most popular by alltime/ year/ month, and newest etc. As well as seeing thread ratings in the forums without entering the thread.

Is there a way to make the thread show up without pages or only a couple pages in the listing, and then if you click a button the other pages show up?

Maybe that's way over complicated but was thinking about the threads with 100+ pages that keep growing and take up half a page when they get bumped.

Instead of the current quoting where the quote can be pages away from the original response, do it kind of like reddit with the replies just stemming off to the side of the original post.

Being and to be see and contribute to voting on mobile! Maybe you can do it in other browsers, I use chrome on my GS3.

Having ski news back on the main page would be sick as well. Maybe not as centered as it used to be, but somehow re-integrating ski news would be great.

It's not like it doesn't have the date if you really want to find the og post. I know what you're saying and in some ways I like when you have the replies on the original comments but I feel the system for quoting is fine at the moment. No need to change it to be like another site if it aint broke
