GoPro HD Hero3: Black, Silver, Or White?

I'm thinking about getting a GoPro for filming sailing, boating, skiing, and other action sports. I'm leaining towards the HD Hero3 but, is black worth paying extra for than silver? and is silver wrth paying more for than white? I'm amateur, just for fun, and not a camera expert. If someone could tell me the differneces that would be great. +k for helpful answers. thanks

If I were to be in the market of a GoPro I would only buy the Black edition I think. The settings of 120fps and 4k or 2k for timelapses would be really helpful. I would recommend looking at the stats on gopros website because that is where you will find all the specifics. I could also help more at a later date when I'm less busy. Hopefully someone else helps more!

How often do you need to shoot a timelapse at 15fps? And 2k is just 1080p

I'm assuming the 4k could be used in picture mode? I don't know much about the 4k but I would think it could be useful for situations when I would not want to leave my camera out in the elements

I havent done much research on the different gopro models but if I where to buy one I would have gotten the white edition and use the extra money on a lcd, extra batteries and other accessories.
Unless there is something more I am missing the different between the silver and white edition is that the silver edition is better for still photos, so unless you want to take stills with it there is no reason to go with the silver edition.
And unless you want to take your gopro filming very serious you don't need 1080p 60fps or 720p 120fps with the black edition.

white edition is the original go pro, silver is the 2, black adds new features, except that all now are slimmer and include wifi. Not sure which use protune

Get a handicam if your planning on filming stuff but if you are going it to use as like a helmet cam and stuff get the black edition or the hero 2. The silver is ok too!

I actually prefer the versatility of the go pro, because you can hand hold it, you can mount it on your head or chest, you can take it underwater, you can pretty much put them anywhere, and I think they give the best image in their price range. While they are less than ideal for making something like a short film, with the new features I don't think it would be much different than using a flip or something (if they even still make those haha). With that said, I also use a gh2, and I might feel a little bit differently about it if I had a much smaller budget and only 1 cam etc.

Yeah thats true a gopro would be good. But I was just saying if he wanted to get into to filming more, than he should get a different camera and there are lots of good handy cams for around 400!
