So, the Line bindings aren't that heavy!

So I had to pick up my buddy's skis last weekend..... and I was comparing them to my skis..... check this out.
My 175 Line Darksides (Carbon) + R12's are lighter than my buddy's pair of Salomon 161 1080's with S810Ti's. Not by much, mind you, but they ARE lighter.
Just some food for thought.

this is not surprising. The Line Binding is bulky, but it feels so heavy because its a one piece binding
my 178 mike nicks and reactors weight about the same as my 168 scratches with look p-10s

i will give props to line for the idea of an interchangable binding, but the thing is indeed very heavy and looks like it will break easily

A Mike Nick 176 or 178 whatever it is, weighed 3 or 4 ounces lighter per ski than the same Mike Nick mounted with a pair of flat Salomon 912 bindings.
They definately feel heavier but they are really lighter...

Exactly. People just like to argue about this kind of stuff. If you don't like the reactors, don't buy them. Simple as that.
I used them at the end of last season and will this season too if we ever get snow. Personally, I love them.

People are just resistant to change. The reactor has set a new standard in bindings with its ability to release where other bindings can't. Other companies will copy this design in the years to come.

You guys need to stop bitching about how a couple of extra ounces strapped directly below your feet affects your skiing. Maybe you should learn how to ski well instead of blaming your 'heavy' bindings. If anything at all, blame your heavy bindings on how hard it is to lug your skis all the way across the parking lot to the slopes. Give me a fucking break.

yeah, screw carrying heavy skis across the parking lot.
i make a handle out of my two poles. my edges arent sharp so they dont slice the straps, and the poles are connected by the other strap so i can carry them one handed.
using this technology i will not notice any difference in weight when switching to the reactor.

no, i honestly didn't. i just might though.
and, keep in mind that i'm the guy that's been ranting about how the line R12's are bombproof for the last 2 years............ because i've been RIDING them for the last 2 years. they're tanks, and somehow manage to be lighter than a supposedly 'light' salomon setup.

According to Line, their bindings weigh 3.9kg for a pair. That's 8.5lbs!!!
Look P12 Lifter bindings weigh 6lbs. The Ti is slightly lighter.
S912Ti comes in even lighter at ~5lbs.

dude the line ski+binding combo is normal wieght ONLY becuase the line ski's are light as feathers........if you hold the reactors in your hand you can tell its fucken heavy....

they are indeed heavy, but there not fuckin 20 pounds, their a fuckin binding dirrectly under ur foot, i can't wait for the years to come when other compaines start adding some of this technology to their bindings and the same people who bitched about lines bindings will praise another compainies just because thats the one they ski

summit has got the point dont compare a non Jib binding (P-10, 810) to lines bindings. If you go for the jib versions (P-12 Jib, 912Ti)they are truly lighter.

in reference to the guy who pointed out the 3.9 kg weight for the line binding, that's actually old info. i know the article that you drew that from, it's on the line R&D page on their website. but that article is actually Q&A for the old reactors. for the new release line made them lighter. i don't know how much lighter, but they are lighter. maybe now they're actually light enough to weigh the same as the p12's i'm not sure.
