What is the difference between the Smith IO and the IO/X?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what the difference was between the Smith IO and IO/X. I am debating whether to get one or the other in the blackout color way. Are there any quality improvements? Difference in size?

My brother owns a pair of IO's already and they seemed to fit well with my face and my POC Receptor Bug helmet, so I am leaning more towards the IO's because I know they already fit. Also, does anyone own a POC Receptor Bug and IO/X's?

having worn both and done the lens change on both here's a comparison:

I/OX:
- is bigger (taller and wider), but not deeper, so the fit is actually pretty similar. It was not so tall that I couldn't fit them with a helmet though (I can't wear EG2's with my helmet because they are too tall, not enough space to fit them between bridge of nose and helmet)

- fits better with a helmet. the strap arms do a better job of guiding the strap around the helmet so that the strap isn't pulled outward (this bends the lens and distorts the vision)

- lens change process is smoother. changing the lens on the I/O is a little finicky, the clips above the lens don't fit the holes as well and the sides of the lens get caught on the helmet arms. The clips on the I/OX are perfect fits with the holes in the lens, and the rotating strap arms make the lenses pop out faster and easier. 

having tried them both I'd never get the I/O, but your results may vary. if your local shop doesn't carry them just buy them both on Zappos and send back the one you don't want (free shipping both ways)

OP ignore this, the IO has exactly the same lens changing process as the I/OX except for the fact that the IOX's are attached to the riggers, so you have to twist them about to release the lens.

The I/O has 2 clips on top of the frame keeping the lens in, and once you've unclipped them it just pulls out.

The I/OX has the 2 clips on top of the frame and also the 2 outriggers are stuck on, so you have to twist them about, believe me this is fucking annoying, if it wasn't for this I'd have a pair.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said you dumb fucking piece of human waste. The twisting riggers makes the lens release easier and less finicky on the I/OX, I liked it a lot more. You may disagree, but it doesn't make me wrong so shut your fucking cock-smoking hole and drink bleach you sloppy cunt.
