actually im pretty sure that quantum physics is at a point where theyre only relying on metaphysics (a branch of philosophy) in estimating their new theories.

there are 4 branches of philosophy: ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, and logic.
logic is math, fyi. moegain has a nice thread directed at geniuses like yourself if you want to find it. it is a system which is used to translate language into symbols to derive truths. lawyers use it, scientists use it, and your computer fucking uses it.
epistemology is the study of knowledge. how do we 'know' anything, ie. what justitfies knowledge.
ethics is what is right or wrong, and how we should act. and its not just a bunch of dudes agreeing that we shouldnt lie or that we shouldnt kill, or that we should help others. its a huge assortment of reasonable arguments which put value on an assortment of premises, look it up if you want.
metaphysics is what it appears youre limiting your impression to, and ignorantly still. its the study of 'what there is', and a lot of it is outside the reign of empirical evidence, but only by going beyond it. it takes basic and certain axioms, and from them reaches new conclusions which arent apparant to our senses or experience.
calculus was invented by a philosopher you idiot. his name was Gottfired Leibniz and he also covered a ton of other topics of philosphy. he invented a theory which is loosely comparable to string theory, and he did it hundreds of years ago by using basic laws and evidence. he didnt make things up like ill assume youre assuming.
