Why the F does my laptop fan run only BEFORE it turns on?

Often(I don't think it's everytime, but most times, and increasingly more frequently), when I turn my laptop on the fan will turn on(pretty loudly) and the screen will stay off, at first it was a few seconds before the fan would turn off and the screen would start up, but now it's a good 10 seconds before it turns on, I'm trying to figure this out before it becomes a problem, couldn't find anything on it on google.

We're not customer support. But actually, i dont think anyone on ns will be able to solve it. Call up HP (or dell or asus or whatever) and talk to someone there. But how could this be a problem?
I know on desktops you can download programs that control the fan speeds for different things (msi afterburner lets me control the gpu fan, i forget about the case fans, but you can google that). Maybe you could manually just set the levels on there so it goes on and doesnt turn off.
But best bet is just to call the customer support and talk to them id say

I'd rather not pay for customer support to talk to someone who statistically is unlikely to be able to speak clearly, I was just curious if it was something anyone had come across/if it was obvious.

But google the fan control programs, I think you could probably just manually set it to go on when you want it.

I'd prefer not to mess with a cooling system, probably end up overheating/ setting it too fast and killing it, I mean it's not the kind of laptop worth paying for customer support, it's near enough dead, it's the kind of thing you're just hanging on for life.

But also the point is this all happens before I turn it on.

So OP basically what youre saying is your laptop fan runs at startup, but shuts off once the OS is loaded? I didn't really understand your original post, my reading comprehension is off.

thanks man, couldn't think of a way to word it such that I'd get an answer in google, seems it's something to do with the BIOS & possibly because I upgraded the ram.

Check your battery settings and navigate to the fan operation setting and tell me what everything is set at "plugged in" and "on battery"

Might as well try using a manual fan setting. They have a temperature monitor, and its not like if you set it too low for a minute the computer is going to immediatly burn up and melt. Windows 7 might have some built in control panel setting for fans also.
