Check out the website GolfWRX. In their forums they have a classifieds/for-sale section. Always great deals on gear there, its where I buy/sell most of my gear. If you're hitting a 5i 210 you definitely need to move away from graphite iron shafts haha. They do have some quality graphite iron shafts out that handle a swing producing those distances, but they are normally expensive as crap.

Honestly though, unless you are REALLY in love with your irons, I would strongly suggest just looking for a new set rather than have a reshaft done. You can find great sets 1-2 years old in great condition for about 200-300 dollars, whereas a reshaft, new grips, and all the clubwork to be done will run you close to 200. I just had my C-Tapers installed, and just for the reshaft was 110 dollars in clubwork. Thats not factoring in the cost of the shafts, or the new grips I'm going to to have on. However I absolutely love my irons, so thats why I just switched shafts.

Before you decide on whatever you do though, find the best launch monitor around to try and get a good idea of your swing speed, and all the different factors. Each shaft acts differently, and responds differently in your hands, so if you can try to hit a few. Most golf shops will have a mizuno shaft optimizer which will give you a general idea of what shafts to look at. Some places require an appointment for it, some will do a spur of the moment thing if they aren't busy.

I dont use it much, but bought one for my droid called SkyDroid. Works pretty well, good enough for a cheap GPS at least haha. I would love to get a rangefinder, but they are just so expensive and so hard to find a good deal on.

Most definitely, i found Golflogix to be pretty accurate. i was standing right by the 150 and it said like 152 to the center, its probably accurate within 2-3 yards im guessing since its gps. It works well enough for me if the course im on has shitty markers. i love courses with carts that have gps tho, only one place i know of in slc has them and of course they have a deal on sundays for half off if you rent a cart so its like $27 for 18 what a deal.

thinking about making the switch to blades. im on a budget and been looking at the MP-14's, MP-32's, and MP-33's.

Anyone out there have any advice on those 3 sets? Seems like people like the 32's and 14's better but I am having a hard time choosing between those two.

If you just work on straightening that driver out I bet you'd add 30 yards to it, and 100% accuracy will drop your scores way faster than distance will anyway. Work on that, then get fit for a club. Otherwise you get fit for all the bad habits you are trying to break.

+1 to this. Accuracy is hands down more important than any other aspect of the long game. Like he said, getting fit is more beneficial once you have a really consistent swing. I didn't get into really custom stuff until it was actually beneficial. Granted, I can still play all the stock stuff, and can still shoot pretty low with it, but basically the characteristics of everything through my set are consistent now and it makes it easier.

I GPS measured one of my longer drives this weekend. Hole had no elevation change and there was no tailwind and it measured out to 343. Left me a 56* in on a short par 5. Still only managed to get a birdie......

It was a sub 500 yard par 5. My 56 degree wedge is bent two degrees strong to 54, and yes I can consistently hit it 125-130 yards with a full swing.

And I know a sub 500 yard par 5 is hard to believe, it was idiotic. They have a par 4 that is longer than it.... It would have been a good bit longer if you play from the tips, which I normally do, but everybody I was with wasn't and Im not gonna be "that guy" and be the only one that plays from a separate tee box.

i play HS golf over here in northern Cali. won league MVP with a scoring average of 74.6 low was 71 high was 81 won 8 out of 14 tourneys

i know thats more than 14 clubs but on shorter courses ill only play a 3 wood no driver then right to 2 iron. and put in the 63. or in wind ill drop the 5 wood and strong 3 and put in the 2 iron and 15* 3 wood i always research my courses and set up my bag accordingly. How I've bought all these clubs you might ask? umm i work at a very rich golf course with very rich members. Those members suck at golf, but they love to play dots, ive walked away from a 36 hole round with 350$ in my pocket.

Was in the same boat last year. My problem was getting to flat on the backswing and it was caussing me to suck with the heavier/longer club. try getting steeper with the back and downswing with the driver. worked for me dropped 6 strokes.

i was like 9/11 at the 15th and only hit 1/3 on the last 5 holes. accuracy definitely added distance, it was nice. ended up with a 92 on the day, a few bad holes i wanted to hit < 90 but oh well. Hopefully play another 18 this week.

has anyone here played green mountain national near killington recently? i have a tournament there in two weeks and want to know what kind of shape the course is in. usually one of the best kept in new england but im just curious as to how things are going up there.

I wouldn't say its too hard I play blues too but they have some tricky greens and depending on the pin placement they can be impossible

Yeah there's this small 9 hole course about half an hour away from me and the greens cant be much more than 10 feet around and they're rock hard.

PC has some huge greens, not every single one but the majority of them are huge and have lots of varying slopes so if you're on the back and the pin is in the front you're pretty much guaranteed a two putt

Played two 9 hole rounds yesterday at my home course. First one was between a group of buddies, we were just playing to see who could shoot the best score, we were gonna have a contest for something but didn't end up doing much afterwards. It was pretty close most of the time, but I ended up with the best score shooting an even par 36. Was pretty lucky, I couldnt drive SHIT. Every drive just suckkked. Except one tee shot I went off with the 3 wood, finally had great contact and hit it past everybody that used driver and it was into a strong wind. Felt good haha. Short game saved me though.

The second 9 hole round was a 2 person best shot, Old Hole. Me and the other low individual score paired up, then two other pairs from the afternoon with us went out. We SUCKED it up and only shot 1 under. The other pairs shot 5 under and 10 under, the 10 under group won. Pretty fun day, good round of golf, and I played in a tank top and got so sunburnt it looks like I'm still wearing it.

Alright, complete noob question here. For the first summer ever actually starting to play occasionally. I have a old set of irons and woods (literally made of wood, that old) that are working fine, but no driver. I know I should get a custom fitted one, but I don't play enough and have enough money to make it worth it. So are there like basic frame of reference sizing charts I could use so I know what size and I can score a used one off amazon/eBay/Craigslist? Also if anybody wants to chime in with a size recommendation I am like 5'10, 170lbs (not that it probably matters) and normal athletic build

Jpx 825 or jpx 825 pro. Laptop just shat out, which is why I'm considering being cheap. I dot feel the pros will make that much of a difference. 9 handicap (was 5 handicap years back in HS). Not quite ready for blades.

Yea I don't believe you picked up a golf club for the first time in your life 3 weeks ago and shot a legit 81. That is like saying someone picking up skiing for the first time in their life and then 3 weeks later being able to throw cork 7's and grind any rail.

Unless you're playing a mulligan a hole or something, I just cannot believe you shot an 81 after 3 weeks of picking up the sport.

If they work, keep using them. Upgrading clubs will never make you "better", they only help when youve actually developed your swing.

As for a driver, go to play it again sports (or similar used sports equipment store) and look at some drivers, feel them out, you don't really pick a "length" just pick something that feels good. You could try local golf stores, they usually have a good used selection but it will be more expensive.

Clubs will never make you better unless you are shooting consistent golf in the 70's and its time to upgrade to a less forgiving club. BUT its not bad to have a forgiving clubs either.

I wasn't planning on upgrading my irons. The most I would do is regrip them, but I doubt I'll do even that. They work fine and I don't have the money or need for a new set. The only thing I'm thinking about getting is a driver because I hate always borrowing my friends when we play and not having one when I hit the range

Definitely man, get that D1. Regipping is awesome, my irons are a set my dad gave to me when he got some new ones, I thought the grips were fine and then i got them regripped, it makes a huge difference. I paid like $60 for grips and labor for SW-4 to be regripped, best money ive spent this year, it has made a big difference for me.

I work at a course. I am pretty inconsistant with my golf. I can drive that green (280) once every 5 times. I really need lessons. I shot a 56 and didnt make par once earlier yesterday. the day before i chipped in for one of a few birdies and probably shot around 45.
took (and instagrammed, kill me) this last night

Its nice being able to play until 9:45pm

If you are playing old irons and persimmon woods you should buy some old balata balls that were made for those types of clubs and you will notice how much more feel they have and how much better they come off the club face.

Meh i kinda disagree with this to an extent. You are right new clubs won't fix your golf swing or help you play any better.

But if that guy is using wooden woods, a new set in clubs may allow him to learn faster... Better feedback, longer distance, more confidence in your play due to that extra distance. I def think new clubs could possibly make you learn faster, just cause the way it sounds those clubs are soo old. And by new I mean like used but not old.

No I badly need good clubs.

I am only now going to be able to break 90 because I put my ego on hold and knew I can't hit good clubs under a 9 iron.

And I need the right non stock shafts too.

Last year I had the most forgiving forged mizunos (JPX pro 800) and I wasn't good enough for them.

My current set I have put in Hybrids to replace 4-6 irons. 7-8 irons are the regular/beginner clubs. And 9-GW are the good pro level clubs.

I am a hacker. I wish I had the hand eye coordination to be a natural but I couldn't have made my HS varsity baseball team, maybe not even JV. I could not hit the X Hot Pros in a 7 iron consistantly. I couldn't hit the regular X hots in a 5 iron I need a hybrid. Switching it up has been huge for me.

Just because I am 6-6 and drive it 300+ doesn't mean jack shit I still suck and lose balls and stuff. I might get respectable now and it will be mostly because of the clubs.

So I dropped my handicap around 20 strokes or so after playing everyday for nearly 2 months now, so I usually shot +10-12 over. When would someone even be "good" enough that getting fitted for their clubs would improve their game?

Getting custom fit will almost always be a benefit. Most places I know of that do fittings give them to you for free if you end up buying clubs through them. However if your still making large swing changes you should probably hold off until you get settled down.
